This was my experience with aea 30 bullpup, it was accurate and almost dislocated my chest muscles trying to cock it, it was accidentally sent instead of the conventional style and was returned for the right model, and have no problem with this one. I own a couple bullpups but don't like mounting scopes so high. I heard the gauntlet 30 shoots pretty good at 100 yards, maybe a consideration, little over 400$.

I, like alot of AGN guys scour the classifieds, ebay and also used store sales. It is a tough situation for a lower budget. For me, best bang for the buck would be an AEA challenger pro .35 or .30. Both put out great power and consistent shots regulated, side lever and can be had used for $500 or so. There are plenty more options out there but not at that price point. Any AEA product will need trigger work, so if that is an issue it changes things. Next would be a benji bulldog, but to me it needs a regulator and trigger work also, and higher price to get go. So with a low budget it gets tricky. The next issue is air. Bigger bore wants more air. GX CS2 compressor is a lifesaver, can be had $200-$250. Manual shutoff, run 1min on and 2min off with the fans going and it will last. Otherwise, $60 handpump does it, but at 400 pumps or more each fill. A small .22 with a hand pump is not a big deal, but bigger bore takes a toll. Beyond the AEA and bulldog you are looking at $1k for a used quality big bore. Air force is in there too, but single shot, many are slug picky and just humongous.
This is quality info and prospective. Thank you

Stg,
Welcome to AGN, hope we can help. Budget dictates a "starter" PCP, (listed in personal preference) Dynamic Air Rifles, JTS Airacuda, Air Venturi Avenger, Umarex Gauntlet and Benjamin Marauder. Recommend .25 caliber, Umarex Gauntlet has a .30, but might be over budget. Research and come back with questions when you've narrowed preferences. Chinese HPA hand pump from eBay for $50 is best bet. Don't forget optics, open sights are rare on PCPs. WM
I'm going to start here and welcome you to the forum.. lots of good people and information here. I was actually looking at the gauntlet 30 caliber but I like open sights and I haven't seen much of anything in PCP with open sights.. id love it if someone sees this and knows a source for open sights on the front for a gauntlet 30 or a avenger or avenger X..
I'm not familiar with tuning and I also don't know ballistics but I'm also wondering if a 22 can be tuned up with slugs to equal the 30 gauntlet and well is it more or less accurate at 100 yards..
oh and on compressor I have a Omega trail charger for im thinking 5 years now and only thing I have done is turn the grease pot in about twice a year.. great unit.. got it from airguns of Arizona..

just curious since you brought up the Benjamin bulldog.. yes I have been looking at it but it's pricey since I would also want to get the pitbull kit with the extended air tube and regulator.. do you know what the accuracy is for long distance? say compared to the gauntlet 30 caliber at half the price?
I'm not too fond of the bullpup design, especially with the cocking lever to the rear.. wouldn't be so bad if they put linkage and the lever up by the trigger/bolt area on a rifle.. some might be able to cock it shouldered but looks to me like I would have to take it down to cock..

just wondering if you know what the accurate usable shot count is for the various air force guns.. seems like I remember it being 10 or less?

oh and is there any open sights available for the air Force? can get a Williams notch rear sight and I'd want a front sight at or near the end of the barrel
thanks

Hello everyone! New member here trying to get my ten post to buy my first air rifle off of the classifieds.

I apologize if this topic has been beat to death but I’m looking for some advice. I have a budget of $400 to purchase my first rifle, and about $100 for a pump. Oregon does not allow big game hunting yet but does allow for coyote management. I’m needing some advice on what I should be looking for at this price range. I.e cal and even better if you can point me at a specific rifle or brand. We have a pretty big problem with coyotes on our farm. And in the area in general. I’m backed by about 5k acres of timberland.

Thank you everyone.
Welcome to the best AGN , seems like your getting your info .
