N/A New member introduction

Good evening, my name is Josiah and I'm from pomeroy Pennsylvania. I made a couple post already nothing major. I always wanted to get into air guns and the crazy thing is I don't even have one yet but I have a neighbor who has an hw95 and a friend of his has a Gamo something or another. The HW is 22 caliber and the Gamo is 177. I'm not really a hunter and I'm not some super competitor, but I do like taking the occasional squirrel rabbit pigeon and the occasional groundhog with rimfires.

Ask for what my interests are again I like to pest but I like shooting targets on paper. I'm not sure if I should get a 177 or a 22 cal or even a 20 caliber. I think the TX200 is nice looking but also like the option of having open sites which is always a good thing in case you're a scope takes a crap. With that being said I like the hw77 and the hw95. But the rx2 and the hw90 are pretty awesome as well. And I think that'd be pretty chic. I've been shooting my neighbors and my friends airlines and I'm pretty good with it now learning a different hold than he does because everybody's different. But anyway I just wanted to introduce myself and say hello to everyone. Thank you. Just in case you see any type of misspellings is because I'm speaking into my phone.

Welcome to the group!

You have your eyes on some fine airguns, all of the ones mentioned will serve you well & all of them will do the various jobs you have in mind to a greater or lesser degree. The thing is.. airguns are like golf clubs. Sure you can play a whole game with nothing but a 5 iron but your score will suffer & you will be working harder than you have to.

Instead plan on adding another club (gun) to your bag. For shooting pests a .22 moving along 700+ fps will do an admirable job. Be conscientious & put a scope on it for accurate hits. Then get yourself a .177 fitted with irons for plinking & generally having fun.

Welcome Josiah!
I bought my first serious airgun in 72, and that was my first .20 cal.
It was $10 more than my Ruger 22 rifle.

Welcome!
Lots of knowledgeable folks here. One thing to bear in mind- the under lever style rifles are usually a fair bit heavier than a break barrel which might be a pain if you do a lot of walking on your hunts . In my opinion the HW95/R9 platform is an ideal do it all hunter/ plinker.
Enjoy the ride and shoot safely!
John

The HW95 and 77 are excellent choices to start out with. Skip over the Gamos and go for the good ones. If you are thinking of leaving them at full power, .22 is a good choice. If you will want to try field target and/or tune them to a smooth shooting 12 ft lb, .177 is the way to go. .20 is fine, but you can't get pellets at walmart or tractor supply.

Welcome to AGN! I will add my vote for the HW95 in .22. Great all around rifle with excellent iron sights.

Buy some H&N Field Target Trophy .22 pellets in 553 headsize in bulk, you will need them.

A Hawke 3-12x44 Airmax with a BKL one inch droop mount goes very well with HW95 and are under $200 on Amazon. Great optic with a lifetime warranty.
