New model coming from March - 8-80x56 High Master Wide Angle

A new scope is coming in the spring of 2023 from March. A High Master wide angle version of the 8-80x56mm. A prototype was used by Tim Vaught to win the US National F-Open Championship for 2022. I have owned the original 8-80x and the 10-60x56 High Master. The 10-60x has an edge on the 8-80x optically. It will be interesting to see how the new one compares to the 10-60x56 High Master.

WOW!!! Certainly wet dream level scope! I’ll live vicariously through you! I’m good with my lowly sightron unless I win the 1 billion dollar jackpot.😅

Currently I do not have any March scopes mounted on airguns.....The Sightron S-Tac. SIII and SV series are my go to glass right now. If I were to start competing I could probably talk myself into an 8-80x High Master, but for now, just dreaming.

I have experience shooting at 500 yards with the 8x80 with centerfire rifles. My experience. Now mind you this is looking at 500 yards in good light. Target looks like it's on the end of your nose, yes you can see the bullets holes at 500 very well. The but, very small field of view and dark. Resolution is not gteat but the power makes that not a big issue, I guess. Before you spend I would advise you to look through one at a match. With my 75 years old eyes I need brightness. I opted for a 10x50x60 SSVED Sightron and love it. Either way it's expensive, look before you leap.

An interesting read from March about their Super ED glass and how you can use higher magnification with mirage than standard ED glass. Not discussed in the article below, but the Super ED glass also has less temperature shift.

During the last few years, we at Deon Optical Design in Japan, the makers of the March riflescopes have been receiving numerous reports about how the March-X 10-60X56 HM (High Master) with Super ED glass is apparently able to remain at a higher magnification compared to other riflescopes in periods of heavy “mirage.” Denys Beauchemin (wind coach at Bayou Rifles in the US) was the first one to report the effect to Deon as he was an early adopter of the 10-60X56 HM, using it in conditions where mirage is a big issue: long range F-Class and he kept bringing it up to us. The March owners reported that while the IQ (image quality) was degrading due to the “mirage”, it remained very usable. They were able to hold on the target exactly where they wanted to aim at the same level of magnification as before the mirage hit, while other shooters with other riflescopes were dialing back the magnification trying to deal with “mirage”. Of course, the owners of those riflescopes were very pleased with that quality, but they were also asking how that could be possible. We did not have an answer and we were not even aware it was even possible for this to be true.

Anyone tested March scopes on Springers?
I have a TX 200 shooting at 12 FPE...Still shopping around for the best scope for this rig for field target.
Love this question!
My option would be an LPVO in a March for your application. But, there are many, many other options that will compete for the TX200, disregarding price. The field is open.
I have an Athlon Helios G2 2x12 0n my TX200 and am very happy.
Suggestion as another choice would be an SWFA 10x42.
Light, bright, solid, warranty and awesomeness...

Patrick

Thank you for the reply 2L8. Happy Thanksgiving

I forgot to add that I shoot WFTF with my TX 200 and I need higher magnification (at least 32X to range find accurately past 40 yards, bracketing and other range finding techniques at 16X magnification are beyond my skill level right now).

I'm eyeballing the March because I'm sick and tired of chasing wandering POI with my current scopes.
