Airforce New Offering - Airforce Airguns Tex-Rex .510

The Airforce Tex-Rex is a .510 caliber offering with upgrades culminating in power levels topping 1100 FPE!! As for now the author of the article claims that projectiles can reach speeds up to 1250 fps making this a super sonic offering (which is too hot for my liking). I wonder how accuracy is affected shooting that fast.

The upgrades listed are as follows: a 34" Lothar Walther barrel, a 500cc CF reservoir holding 310 bar/4500 psi, initial offering will be .510 to be followed in .457, an overall weight of around 8 lbs, length of 54.25", and M-lok slots on foregrip. I'm sure what sort of valve they're using, but this sounds exciting.

I first read of this beastie in the following article https://hardairmagazine.com/news/new-airforce-tex-rex-announced-for-shot-show/

The old .510 TX2 valve is 3625 psi with carbon fiber bottle ...This new version is 4500 psi working valve with 300 bar carbon fiber bottle..The African Air Ordinance .510 4500 psi super valve has been around for years...This is a factory supported 4500 psi super valve from Airforce as far as i can tell.. Id say only super sonic with light slugs...Most .510 hunting slugs from 1 once to 1.5 once so it will sub sonic.. The old TX2 valve will shoot 650 grain slugs at 750 fps this valve at 4500 psi should be over 900 fps with 650 grain slug..Im happy Airforce has this factory offering... All I know is this setup with 650 grain spire point boat tail slugs .5 B.C has 1000 foot pounds at 300 yards...Better sub sonic ballistics than most things offered... Hopefully will be able to buy the new 4500 psi super valve and tank to update TX2 valves....

I called Airforce for some parts for my .510 this week...While on the phone i tried to find out if you could upgrade existing .510 TX2 valve to the new 300 bar bottle and valve....Does not look good...All Airforce would tell me is there is more than the bottle and valve... With the African Air Ordinace kit for 4500 psi they used a heavier hammer heavy spring and had to replace the carrier tube... My carrier tube is currently stripped out on my .510 TX2 valve from factory 3625 psi use...So yes the aluminum carrier tube needs upgraded... So i dont think Airforce wants use to upgrade our Texans ourselfs...Sadly

Is it just me, or does this new gun smack as a bit of D-swinging contest in the new world reality of high power PCP?

I also think it's a bit of a miss since it brings nothing new to the table but MORrrr Power. I already replaced my tank once & almost 100% unlikely have a good reason to replace the Texan I have. & I can't be alone on this level of investment.

There are probably a few die-hards and new buyers who might find it attractive, but it kinda disappoints IMO.

Am I wrong?

I dont want to replace my existing Texan .510...It took forever to get it shooting accuratly.. Now that my Texan is Accurate in its current form..Custom stock..1inch carbon fiber barrel..coldshot mil adjustable base...I have around 150 lbs of 650 grain spire point boat tail slugs with a B.C of .5 laying around.. The ballistics of 920 fps with a B.C of .5 and 650 grains is a amazing long rage combo.. The new T rex .510 seems like the same frame as the other texans...I bet the carrier tube is steel hopefully....a heavier hammer and spring...There 4500 psi kit from African Air Ordiance cant be that different from the factory texan 510 T REX.. Both the AAO kit and now factory T rex valve operate at 4500 psi and shoot 650 grain slugs at 920 FPS.. id say there is no new Airgun magic in .510 T Rex..Big pressure Big Spring Heavy Hammer...

What do you think the recoil will be like on the new version? Will it come with a threaded barrel? if so, what are the thread specs?

Recoil from 650 grain slugs at 750 fps in my old TX2 valve will scope any un suspecting shooter..So recoil from new .510 will be like a slug gun...I made a custom stock for my texan .510 and it really helps to handle the recoil...The barrel will not be threaded for sure..They will offer it in there LSS version im sure probably $1500.00...ahhh Recoil much more managible with 450 grain slugs or 1 once..If anyone buys any .510 i have lots of cast slugs..
