Not new to shooting, but pretty new to air guns. I am looking to buy a Seneca dragonfly m2 because of all the positive reviews and YouTube videos. The only pump pellet gun I have now is a Crossman 2100. It’s a nice accurate gun, but at 70, pumping it up is a pain. From what I can tell the Seneca is much easier, has a threaded barrel for a moderator and much easier to mount a scope. I will be buying a .22 for the a couple of reasons, much better for the occasional squirrel or woodchuck I want to kill, and it’s just way easier picking up and loading the larger .22 pellets.
I have not seen any negative reviews of this gun, but would it be a good choice for backyard plinking and occasional hunting?
I do not want to go down the rabbit hole of pcp, I would just as soon save the extra money for good pellets, good scope, and moderator.

Don't trust utube or reviews. Hate to tell you but 200 bucks won't buy much of a new airgun these days. Would suggest look at a used Sheridan if you want a pumper. Or bite the bullet and get a quality springer. No pumping more accurate just cock and shoot. But the cost of a quality one can get pretty steep. Hang around the traditional section and don't be afraid to ask questions. You will soon see and learn better options than what you are now considering. And don't worry about getting a used one that's shot out, pellet gun barrels don't wear out from use like a centerfire will. Good luck.

FWIW, I turned 70 on 9/11, Brother Geez. More importantly, I've owned and tested over 500 airguns of all kinds. That includes my .22 Dragonfly.

So to start, I disagree with anyone attempting to steer you away from a Dragonfly despite you making it clear in your original post that's what you seek information about. That's a common affliction in humans, especially on forums.

Yes, a .22 Dragonfly is an excellent choice for backyard plinking and occasional hunting. As recoilless as a PCP, it is much easier to shoot well, especially from multiple positions and rests, than cheap springers. And considering you're new to airguns, I wouldn't recommend buying used (even a Sheridan).

As taken from my testing, here's some information you can actually use-

.22 Seneca Dragonfly MK2 multi-stroke pneumatic repeater

15.9gr FX, 4 pumps, 3 shots- Low= 510, Hi= 515, ES= 5, SD= 3, Average= 513 FPS/9.3 Foot pounds
15.9gr FX, 6 pumps, 3 shots- 576, 579, 3, 2, 577/11.8
15.9gr FX, 8 pumps, 3 shots- 614, 621, 7, 4, 618/13.5
15.9gr FX, 10 pumps, 4 shots 638, 648, 10, 5, 644/14.6
15.9gr FX, 12 pumps, 4 shots 661, 666, 5, 3, 664/15.6

5/13/23- Six consecutive three-shot groups at 50 yards on 11 pump strokes averaged .68” center-to-center.

Thank you very much, this is exactly what I was looking for.
Us old guys need to stick together.
As soon as I get back from “deer camp” I will order one and give it a try.
