New or Not

Solution
That's pretty much what I figured the answers would be. I only asked because my VA on my "new" Impact seems a little sloppy after turning in and then turning out
Think there are all used ... least the ones I've dabbled in for both powder burners, springs, and PCPs - tested by the factory crew at some point during quality control. My most expensive PCP purchases were shot by the dealer prior me getting it ... came with little report cards too. 😠 I'm not sure I've ever received a new rifle or gun.

Okay, no way the rule of the land, just my simpleton view:

Factory Quality Control - New
Dealer Opened Inspected - New Open Box
Dealer Tested - pressure, fps, tuning, shot group - Used
Returns, totally up in the air

Personally, I have less issues with "Used" guns because it seems the prior owner has vested interest to work out any quirks from the daily repeat processes at the factory and or vendor. I'm being very generalized here and applies to may products sold.

Valid question, recent thread on newly arrived JTS Airacuda Standard, that looked used, is worth looking up. Scratches, dents or what appears as excessive wear, are warning signs. Absence any obvious clues, hard to tell. In-House Demos, Promotional Loaners and guns from Dealer's personal collection won't have any record of serial number assignment. Best advice is challenge dealer if you suspect something isn't right about your purchase. WM

If a rifle is sealed in the factory box, I think it's reasonable to assume that it hasn't been shot since it left the maker. Anything on the rack is a demo. If, or how much it's been shot will vary with the dealer. But if there is no sign of damage or abuse, and you have a full warranty, I wouldn't worry about it. I just bought a new car, and it accumulated about 50 miles during 2 weeks in the dealer's possession. With rare exceptions, dealers have to allow test drives, whether cars or guns. The best you can do find a reputable dealer.

Just look at it. If you can’t tell then it’s new. Just have to assume or you will drive yourself crazy. If it looks new and you aren’t questioning it you are good to go. Factory or dealer opened and tested to make sure everything is good isn’t used…lmao. It’s a nice piece of mind that it probably won’t be returned. Used is I have no idea who has been inside the gun or how they tuned or adjusted anything. No idea if they put dry air into it (this is huge on used stuff) etc.
