Way over what the OP wants to spend, and doubtful he can even own one in NJ.the ghost carbine in 22 from aoa great rifle.
Oooooo i agree but thats why i want to know exactly what a shrouded barrel is. To me by the breakdown its a floating barrel. Now if you add a moderator on it yes "suppressor" is illegal. Shrouded is a basically a floating barrel?FK NJ
The shroud acts as a cover over the barrel/ barrel liner. Some have an internal baffle system that helps with sound and poses no legal issues. If you go FX, you can swap out the factory shroud with a Huggett shroud for example that incorporates an internal sound dampening system that would also pose no legal issues. Of course you could always use the rifle factory spec, maybe it's loudness isn't much of an issue to you.Oooooo i agree but thats why i want to know exactly what a shrouded barrel is. Thank you for your service. I was Army 98-06. I love your offer for him to visit. I'm the same way. I have a membership to a 100yd indoor range and get one guest per visit and have always been the same way. Anyone that wants to try airguns and can travel to me is always welcome to do the same.Pete,
If you want to try some different air rifles, you can visit me. I'm in Central NJ. And i have an indoor and outdoor range. Young people are welcome, I had three. They all shoot regularly.
I have lived here all my life, except for school and Uncle Sam Service.....but, if you follow the laws you will have no problem.
I have two grown children that are firearm instructor/competitors. It can be done in NJ, you just have to be stubborn.....like me!!
Well thank you for both your service and your offer. I very well may take you up on that. Im in sussex county. As far as legality goes on the shroud. Is this a depends on the officer kinda deal? I have cop friends who cant even answer this. The FX broken down doesnt have ports for baffles. I just want a nice gun without leo trying to take my toys. I dont care about a moderator as i KNOW nj doesnt allow that.Pete,

If your still wanting .22, and if legal in your state, I would suggest a Bengamin Marauder, or a Umarex Notos.Hey guys I come here seeking guidance on a new venture. Im an avid hunter for 25 years and am looking to fill the gap of the year with some small game hunting with an air rifle. Squirrels, rabbit and coon control would be my main uses.
I live in NJ and our fun laws do not allow any "noise dampening devices". I usually am of the opinion of buy once cry once but the upper tier of PCP's has me questioning that. With all the regulated or not regulated rifles, pump or hand pump I'm a little apprehensive. If you were to buy a starter that you could grow into what would you buy and why. Im set on a .22 but besides that I am all ears to the veterans of the sport. Thank you for your time and information.
But thats what im trying to say. Without a moderator on the front end it doesnt dampen anything. Watched like 20 videos on barrels with LX and all it seems to be is a floating barrel. Like a harmonics thing. The steel tube goes feom the brass gas port to the barrel end. How can that dampen decibels?I read NJ law as anything that lowers the db of an airgun is illegal. That would include any shroud that has an air path diverting pressure/air from the muzzle into the shroud, regardless of baffles etc. Im not a lawyer, but I would not be in possession of anything close in a state like NJ. I would be in possession of a U-Haul while I moved to a free state. And thats coming from a born and raised Cali-Boy.
I suggest looking at naked barrel pcps or maybe even a break barrel AA or Gamo. I might be wrong, but places like NJ have been flexing their injustice muscles lately.
It depends on the model. For example the DRS is direct and the "shroud" isnt actually a shroud. But on the Maverick, Wildcat, Impact, etc there is an air stripper between the muzzle and the end of the shroud. This diverts air into the shroud, and most other makes/models are similar. But thats what im trying to say. Without a moderator on the front end it doesnt dampen anything. I like my AirForce TalonP, but without a moderator, the AF guns are not quiet.Airforce has 20% off till the end of the year.
Condor SS in .22 or .25,and get the spin- loc setup with the different tophats.
Depends on New Jersey’s “interpretation” of the law.Oooooo i agree but thats why i want to know exactly what a shrouded barrel is. To me by the breakdown its a floating barrel. Now if you add a moderator on it yes "suppressor" is illegal. Shrouded is a basically a floating barrel?
