RAW Rapid (new) RAW - HM1000X ... Changing Calibers -> Pellet Probe Removal?

Hey Guys,
Very Basic question regarding the "newest version" of the RAW HM1000X:

- The pellet probe housing no longer has the two tiny set-screws, allowing the pellet probe to be removed when changing calibers?

I want to my .177 caliber barrel and have the .177 cal. probe .... I'm sure RAW didn't discontinue the ability to change out calibers ... just wondering .

Since RAW never produces schematics ........... it's my current puzzle .

I'm not exactly sure, but Martin, of airguns-usa, told me that the new rifles have some kind of clip internal to the bolt. so I suspect the cocking handle may have to be removed to take out the entire bolt to gain access to the retainer. Just guessing, but I would call customer service at Air Force and ask them.

The 2 grub screws eliminated. Apply blue loc tight, adjust and allow to set. Old and new in photo.

Yeah, that's what it seemed to me too.
There's a screw visible from the top of the receiver which is removable.
It shouldn't be a big problem, but a minor annoyance.

Are you referring to the two part probe assembly?

Or how the assembly is retained in the carrier?

Over the years I’ve seen the two part probe assembly with and without setscrews. I just used loctite on both. Simpler.

Now, there are also two tiny setscrews retaining the whole probe assembly in the carrier/slide/cocking assembly. Did those get removed?

The exact time of all of these changeovers depends on the rate of sales and manufacture that consume the prior part configuration and the cut-in of the new configuration.
Yes the two-part probe assembly screws were being removed even before AirForce purchased RAW, and it is retained with loctite after its length is properly set.
Yes the two tiny set screws retaining the probe assembly in the bolt carrier have now been eliminated and replaced with an internal circlip. The bolt is more positively aligned now, but the little clip is a bit finicky to remove with a small pointed pick. I believe this is simpler to manufacture and a little cheaper to assemble and help maintain sales price for this USA-made rifle.

Honestly I thought the set screws retaining the probe were silly and just an overall bad design.

There is very little thread and they don’t bottom out. If they sat a little proud they would damage the action block as the probe was retracted

Glad to see they addressed it….cant really speak to how good the fix is though :)

Yes -

Thanks Cloud :),
Now I just need to disassemble until I can see the cir-clip .....

So in "newest version" you're referring to no blanking plug & ambi version.?

JaxJax,
The Bottom Blanking Plug has nothing to do with the change.

- See pics below showing small set-screws in the Old Version's Housing of pellet probe - smooth on the New Version.

Yepper, I was just seeing if you had the new, new action ambi action without blanking pug for reference & obviously you do. Thats just a heat gun gig isnt it ? disregard as I see Cloud9 has solved the issue (y)
Yes JaxJax - You're Right;),
I took off the stock on the newest version of the HM1000X ..... it also doesn't have a bottom blanking plug?
This makes it more difficult to add additional plenum space to the 30cc OEM platform? Mubhaur's Mod is kaput ..........
I also used the bottom blanking pug to install a regulator testing gauge.

Well, one more new version and Martin's initial creation might be DOA :p.

You can purchase inline plenum extenders from RAW. IMO, they are superior to Mubhaur's plenum, because they have fewer joints to leak, you don't need to remove them to remove the stock, and they push the bottle forward which moves some weight out front to mitigate muzzle flip when shooting in competitions. Martin's creation is not DOA, it just has some improvements IMO.
Call RAW and ask for Max to order them.

Not sure about saying improvements or progress has been made .......... but the cir-clip holding in the pellet probe doesn't look like anything I've seen.
Hence, didn't want to break on removal, it so I heated up the probe's base and unscrewed the tip/replaced with a .177 tip.

I still much prefer the older style for ease of "working on" and flexibility.
