A low down ****** scammer scum-bag just tried this one on me so I thought I'd share their new trick to make sure nobody else falls for it.

It's actually quite clever. I might be impressed if my heart wasn't filled with violence and range toward them.

First, they put an almost too good to be true used product listing on Amazon. You know the sort. The best deal you've seen on something you want but not too cheap to make you assume it is definitely a scam. E.g. An $850 Weaver scope for $500. Plus, it's Amazon and they give you your money back if they don't send the goods, so you don't worry.

Then.... a few hours later while you are busy telling everyone here what a great deal you got, you receive an official looking Amazon order cancellation notice which tells you the seller cancelled the order and that you have not been charged.

You then forget about it because, if you've not been charged then no harm right...

I nearly fell for this but for some reason, an alarm went off in my head (not literally) and I double checked the sender's address. Not Amazon. So I check my bank account and sure enough, I have actually been charged...

The hope is that, like many (or most) of us who don't regularly check our bank transactions in detail, we won't notice the money missing in time to raise a claim. If you believe you haven't been charged, you don't raise a claim when nothing arrives right?

Anyway... this scum-bag won't get $0.01 of this Zebra's hard earned bread. Make sure they don't get any of yours either!

"bowwild"Wow, I never knew private folks could list things on Amazon?
Yeah most of Amazon is private sellers.

I only found that out a few years ago with a business I started when I became an Amazon seller. I remember thinking it was a bit shady at the time. Nothing wrong with private sellers, it was and is the way it leads or misleads people into thinking that they are buying from this large, respected and safe brand name store. No different to ordering from Walmart maybe... but... the reality is that it is no different to buying from eBay.

It makes it a scammer mecca. Almost to the same extent as yellow forum. You have thieves and scammers. People selling used goods and pretending they are new. People "accidentally" sending you the wrong model etc.

To be honest, it isn't much better or safer for sellers on Amazon. After a few sales, I closed my sellers account as they were too hard to deal with. You had people thinking they were dealing with a Walmart sized store and trying to return custom stuff I'd spent months making and Amazon ignoring my terms and conditions or giving people refunds for goods they didn't return etc.

if it wasn't for the occasional bargain, I'd never buy anything through them. eBay is much safer believe it or not.

"bill_dd97"Be sure to report that to Amazon so they can ban them.
I did. I had to or I wouldn't get a refund but it won't stop them.

Even if Amazon bans them (which is not guaranteed), they can just open a new account so make sure to be healthily suspicious of all online sellers.

Come to think of it, the "we've already refunded your money" scam is not that new. I've seen restaurants try it before with the "we've taken the item off your bill" then you see a double charge on your card. Then they claim it was just a typing error when they get caught. It's just the first time I saw it done online and so well.

I was so close to falling for it. I don't know what made me check. 99 times out of 100 I would have lost my money and been none the wiser.

E-Bay allows the sale of MANY airguns but you have to be an approved airgun vendor by E-Bay and the vendor slots are already full so no new airgun sellers are allowed.

As long as there are Chinese there will be copies of popular products. It is what they do. Don't get me wrong, others copy too, but the Chinese "Specialize" in it. ;)
