Other New Scba tank question

Hey guys I have a new Drager 60min Scba coming in today. It’s a 2022 and never been used brand new in original box.

Would you guys get the tank hydro tested before filling it up for the first time? I have my own compressor so will be filling it up myself.

I always used older expired tanks (over 15 years) so this is my first new tank.

If it were me no, but that is your choice. I'd do a visual inspection on the outside to make sure no chips showing any fibers, fill it up to1000 to 2000 psi then do a soap test to the valve neck too see if it is leaking them proceed to the bottle rated fill pressure. Congrats on the new tank enjoy

Like you I bought a brand new old stock (2019) Drager about 2 years ago. Factory box had never been opened and the SCBA was pristine. I did not see any reason to hydro it as it was still within the 5 years of manufacture. It just hit its 5 year mark in June so I will need to get it hydro tested before my next fill at the dive shop.

Fill that sucker up and get some lead in the air.

My 9L Cf tank i got in the start of the year, it is made in 2023 so still some years to its first mandatory test.

My 2012 200 BAR steel bottle, is really due for inspection, but as it have only been filled 6 or 7 times ( before 2015 ) i am still reluctant to spend money on that, seeing as i also have my own big bottle compressor.

BUT !!!! i might well drain it of the 100 or so bar in it, and do a visual inspection on it myself, and then proceed as is.
I think my friends snake camera should allow for a visual inspection,
