Theoben New scope for the "new" Sirocco

I picked up a Theoben Sirocco last week. but didn't have anything to put on her. I bounced back and fourth on what to get but finally settled on a Athlon Talos 4-16x40. Daylight was on its last legs by the time I got it mounted but I managed to get two 5 shot groups in before it was completely gone. Tomorrow will be the big day for testing but I have very high hopes for this pretty gal.

You overscoped it imo

Would like a nice glossy finish, 3-9x33 leopold on that.
No such thing haha. I like a nice 16x for 60yd shooting so I can see little .177 holes without using splatter burst targets.

I actually had considered a Leupold FX2 3-9x but they're discontinued and Ebay wants crazy money for them right now. Thats what I have on my other Theoben and it does look fantastic on there.

Yeah, it’s hardly worth searching for the Leupolds anymore. I have Airmax on both of mine and haven’t had any problems. Running 16 ft lb 177 and.22. I like the “Omega ” trigger a lot better than the trigger on my Evolution but I think I know how to improve the Evo now that I’ve researched it. I’ve had very little time for airgunning since summer began. If I do anything airgun related it’s just a little plinking and not working on any.
Anyway, the Sirocco single stage trigger ain’t bad. And my big ape hands like the generous pistol grip with palm swell.
My 177 Sirocco will do 1/4” CTC @ 25y anytime. Purchased in 1988. I was only 28 years old.
A neighbor shot it at paper @ 25y recently. Then I aimed at the hole and passed straight through it like a lazer. He was amazed. Impressed. I was too. I’ve made some impressive shots with it over the years. A great carry size rifle. The best of the early Theobens.

Yeah I'm really liking the trigger for what it is. Its a bit heavy but it breaks very cleanly. There are two adjustment screws that I haven't played with yet but I'm sure I can get it a bit nicer with a little effort.

1/4" at 25 consistently would make my weekend.... fingers crossed 🤞

As far as scopes go, pickings are slim. I wanted 16x, under 44mm objective, mil dots, 1" tube, relatively light, and $200 give or take. Really not much in that category unfortunately

I posted instruction sheets for the Sirocco on the incredible Vintage Airgun Gallery. Don't get crazy with trigger adjustment. It's a single stage. It's a sufficient trigger. You don't need 6 oz.

EDIT
I FOUND THE INFORMATION BELOW AND SAVED IT IN A FILE. BUT DIDN'T LOOK IT OVER CLOSELY. NOT THE CORRECT TRIGGER! AND I DON'T KNOW WHAT IT GOES TO. PERHAPS A WEBLEY SPRINGER? IDK. I APOLOGIZE FOR ANY CONFUSION

You might get away with a scope like that if you tune it down a bit. Otherwise a scope wrecker. Tune it up much more and it gets pretty hard to cock and slammy. I stop at 16 ft lb. in 177. Maybe 17 in .22 The screw in the trigger is fake first stage spring tension.

I have a different trigger. I'm not sure what the name of it is but you had actually posted about it a couple of years ago. Here's the parts diagram you had uploaded. I'm with you on not needing a 6oz trigger though. Its already consistent which is big so anything even a bit lighter is golden

I'm running the gauntlet today. Testing pellets and then relieving some pressure and repeating. My end goal is "best accuracy between 12-15ftlbs"

Theoben ran a shorter stroke for the UK version to maintain the fast lock time. Any spring type rifle will be easier to shoot when neutered but I prefer to learn to shoot a gun with some balls. I don't want or need 20 bench, 10m, or FT rifles.
Therefore, after I ran one at lower energy for a while I pumped it back up and do enjoy it . It's a magnum and as seen above is still very accurate that way.

Theoben managed to craft some graceful looking rifles, and yours is no exception.

That rig is going to be a squirrel terminator!
Theoben really did not skimp much in the aesthetics department. I would definitely hate to be a squirrel walking out near my range today thats for damn sure 😆

Its not just the accuracy thing. I want a gun I can sit there and put a tin through without breaking a sweat. I've only put about 100 through this thing at only 15fpe and my elbow of my cocking arm is already starting to stiffen up already. I'm sure once I manage to find a muzzle weight for it that'll improve significantly though. Until then my 18ftlb HW80SL will have to carry the .177 magnum duties haha

Yeah thats all pretty normal. I'm pretty sure Weihrauch and Air Arms outsource their stocks and I wouldn't be suprised if other parts were outsourced as well. It's a pretty standard buisness practice these days. Ford, Chevy, Toyota, etc don't make most of the parts in their vehicles. The "manufacturer" in a lot of cases is basically just an assembler. If you pay for good parts, regardless of whos making them, you aren't skimping.
