New Stock for the 97K

Nice piece of furniture! Do you plan on competing with the rifle?

I have the CS500 stock on my 50S, huge upgrade.
Yes sir. This will be my field target setup for next year except the scope may get upgraded at some point.

That CS500 is basically ordered at this point. Just need to recover a bit from my last couple of impulse buys haha

I ordered a CS600 Tyrolean to go on my HW77, the stock on it will be transferred to my 97kt. Not liking the thumbhole that much, and always wanted a Tyrolean.
I love my Tyro. It fits me like a glove and is actually the reason I started looking at aftermarket stocks. It made me realize just how important a will fitting gun stock is.

Picked up a Craftsman Vit in the classifieds and I have got to say I am pretty blown away by it. I can see why so many of you guys use them now. The adjustability is fantastic and down in a FT position everything just steadies up so much better than factory. Plus it looks neat!View attachment 311184
It looks great! I was tempted to buy the stock just so I could buy a HW97 to go with it.

This morning I swapped the stocks between my 97kt and the 77k. Had a few stumbling blocks. On both the front trigger guard screw was so tight that it actually was frozen into the block that screws to the receiver and keeps a sliding I guess cocking or safety piece in place. After I got the block loose, I figured out where metal ring (spacer)that went in that sliding piece to keep the block from screwing down so tight as to stop it's movement went, it had dropped out. Got the block screwed in withe the spacer in place. On the 97kt the actual trigger guard screw was so tight I had to use a pair of vice grips on that block to loosen it from the screw to get the trigger guard out. Finally got the stocks swapped, and tested the guns for function, perfect, so I did things correctly. I did this in anticipation of a CS 600 stock I have on order, not wanting to fool around with two guns and three stocks at the same time. I did discover rather quickly that the thumbhole stock is not made to use with iron sights, but that will be ok for a few weeks until the new stock arrives.

If thats the stock I'm thinking of, @grainmatterphotos has one on his 97K too and I am a HUGE fan of it as well. You're really going to love that one. Hope it shows up early for you!

Congrats on the new toy. Don't feel bad we've all been there. I had to learn the hard way that half a roll of paper towels won't stop my P17 at 5yds

Just ordered an LP Evolution stock in silver sand laminate. For anyone interested in LP Gunstocks, Lukas gave me a heads up that the Fusion line will soon be discontinued. Some customers have had issues with cracking along the grip when cocking magnum springers. The Evolution bridges the butt and forearm in two places (thumbhole design), which solves the issue. Have never seen or held an LP Gunstock so this is a pricy leap of faith. Lukas is a pleasure to work with, answered all my questions. And now, I wait......... !!
