Tuning New to M3, Trying for the Hundreds

Hello,

Im new to Airgun just getting to know my new M3, I'm shooting 25.4 pellets now and getting Ok results at 50 yards, try a couple different tunes but on now wind days I can gets consistent results at 100 yards.

Im able to get a amazing SD numbers from 2.5 to 4.5, but no consistency on Paper, again decent on 50( nothing like I see out there) but at 100 is just not happen.

I have being shooting 22 LR for years, so my shooting is not terrible.

Would much appreciate some directions to try .

Thanks

OK results at 50 yards, would definitely not translate to better results at 100 yards irregardless of the gun. Even the slightest wind affect POI at 50 yards. When lobbing pellets out to 100 yards and beyond, everything gets magnified, drop, wind, shooter, etc. If you're consistently getting 3/4" or better groups at 50 yards it's legit to try for 100 yards, if you're not?... Some very talented shooters here make it look easy, but behind the scenes they put in the work. Look in the long range forum for answers.

You should be able to do ~1MOA with JSB pellets in DEAD CALM conditions unless something is really off with your tune. Wind is a major issue with pellets, even when it seems mild. Somewhere between 50-100yds pellet groups really start opening up due to wind.

My .30 M3 with the 1:37 liner shot 23 JSB 44gr pellets into a 1" hole at 100yds on a rare dead calm day. It was amazing. Every other day even when the wind is very mild, groups are about 3" wide and 1.5" tall with the same gun at 100 yds. You can watch the POI shift as the wind conditions change during groups.

This is why everyone is so hot over slugs. They may group larger than pellets in dead calm conditions, but in real world conditions they are much more predictable and are far less affected by wind. Also, even the best pellets seem to really drop off past 100yds. Farthest I was able to put .30 pellets on paper with reasonable accuracy was ~120yds and you are really lobbing them in there. Slugs I can group out to 200yds no problem.
