HW/Weihrauch New to me ~1975 HW35 Luxus

Fabulous find! You got a special piece there. Congratulations! I believe the Weihrauch line that Beeman imported and they built expressly for the U.S (maybe other countries) had the ”West Germany“ marking. The guns made for the German market did not. I’ve had a few. Think about it. The world thought as Germany being divided into the West and East. Did the Germans? Especially the West.

Is the latch have adjustment? Seems to me I read that here a while back. Maybe those in the know will step up. Really nice by the way.
Not that I'm aware of. As far as I know it's just a simple wedge that keeps it from opening. I'm gong to pop the stock off at some point to see whats going on. I really can't imagine its a huge deal though.

Interesting! I had never considered that as an option. I just took a peak at my late 70s/early 80s (can't remember the date) Diana 75 and that says "Made in Germany" as well. Thanks more making me think a little more out of the box here.

Looking at the latch post comments ..

Maybe get a new spring.. that old one I'll assume is the original may of lost it's vigor .. you know how springs get over time. .. could get lucky and clean up that spring location of gook packed in over the years hampering the latch spring ..🤔

It seems plenty springy still but you're right, I should definitely just grab one as well. Chambers has them in stock with the latch so why risk it. Before I place an order though I'm doing a tear down and inspection just to make sure I'm not missing anything. I'm running on assumptions now and you know what they say about that.

Could have been the 55 now that I think back. There is several x-perts here that I am hoping will step up.

I'm slowly starting to build a little 35 collection haha. I have a 13fpe .22, a 10.5fpe .177, and now a little a baby .177 for some indoor stuff. It isn't hoarding if they're all somehow a little different, right?? 😂
Yeah, I've got three also ......
Beautiful machines :).

Thinking about getting another ----->

Being springy or being a good hard firm springy that give that it's tight positive lock pressure..

Thing is unless you got a new to compare and try. ?? Over time that spring could of set / compressed a fraction of a mm to the too loose or not quite enough pressure kinda thing ..

Anyway just a thought on something

Oh I have read 1 or 2 that even though the spring felt springy it was busted .. kinda like a springer main spring that's broke it still springy and shoots 😉...lol

Beautiful Gun:cool:!

PA used to carry a HW35 replacement piston for under $50 .... get the seal too.
I'd probably want more power than 6 FPE - that's HW30S territory:whistle:.

This link goes to the Hw45 pistol piston. It won't fit your 35. I'm sure you know that but I wanted to make sure.
Be well

According to the lists I have, serial 533067 would be 1975. This site is awesome:

The barrel is original. I so have a 35E from 1966 that is marked Made in Western Germany. But I also have a 1967 HW 50S, and a 1973 35L very similar to yours, with Made in Germany. I also have some Dianas pre-dating "the fall of the wall" that have Made in Germany.

I guess you'd have to get a German to explain that! Might have to do with export regulations or some other tangential issue.

Perhaps it had to do with where a gun was (or wasn't) being exported to?
Yep. 1981 FWB and 68 Winnie 435 both say “Made in Germany”.

We shall not speak of how many Diana 27's and HW 55's I have for that very reason!

In all seriousness, the variations and evolution of a favorite airgun over time fascinate my tiny brain to no end.

Thats some good info. Thank you for taking the time to verify it.

Do you have any thoughts on the butt pad and latch? The latch was definitely modified for some reason and I'm wondering if they were changed slightly at some point.

@MDriskill I found one of your old posts about your 1973 HW35. My assumption that my latch was modified appears to be incorrect. I assumed because it wasn't blued that it had been reshaped some but it appears yours looks very similar to mine. @Hateful McNasty may have hit it on the nose about the spring being worn. I removed the stock and the block that holds the latch looks perfectly fine.
