Brocock/BRK New to me Brocock Bantam Sniper HR has a slow leak, HELP PLEASE

I recently purchased a Bantam Sniper HR in .22cal. that shoots very well and I'm very happy with it except for a slow leak. The seller told me about it before I bought it so I'm ok with that. It takes about 4-5 days to leak down to empty. I have replaced the washer and the metal-rubber gaskets on the filler intake. I even tried replacing it with one off ebay. It worked fine but still leaked. I also replaced the metal-rubber gaskets on both guages and still no change. I tried spraying Windex around all the fittings but nothing shows so I'm kinda stumped on this one. I'm pretty good at tracking leaks on my AEAs but I'm new to Brococks. I did put the original filler back in and it acts the same so I'm staying with that one. It has a low serial number and the Filler has a hex fitting for tightening. Any help would be appreciated. PS. I do fill it with my AV Rovair compressor so I fill it pretty slow.

I don't think it's the fill valve. I replaced the o-ring and washer 2 times and no change. Then I Tried a brand new valve from ebay with the exact same results so I don't think it's the valve. I have already call AOA and their tech said the valve I have on mine is one they recommend and to change the o-ring which I did twice. I watched all the videos and read all the threads on here, AGTA and You Tube. I have exhausted everything on line before posting this so I guess I will just learn to live with it. I'm not a rookie, I have been working on airguns for over 40 years. Thanks guys

mine had a leaking poppet, I removed the poppet and burnished it with an oily cloth and a drill motor, that did the trick, that was 2 years ago and it's still good, just stick the Poppet shaft in a drill and take an oily cloth, put against the poppet sealing surface and apply moderate pressure with the cloth, allow it to get warn/hot, check for smoothness, if good re-install, test if it leaks, if so, do again, or you can just replace the poppet if you want.
note: mine had a peek poppet, that's why I burnished it.

I thought about that. I have a big tank air compressor that goes to 150lbs. and could blow out most of the water. I have to think about that one, but thanks.
If you managed to retrieve an airgun that just fell in a lake, would you throw it away? No, you'd break it down, clean, dry (hair dryer or compressor) and re-lube. Same difference as water test just that no grit, dirt or sand is involved. Problem is the air leak is so slow might be only way to find it. WM

I’m really curious about this issue.

Thanks Kevin that's what I'm looking for. Do you know of any videos telling how to get to the poppet? I have a lathe and milling machine and could make one if necessary. Will let you know if it works.
I haven't seen a video on the poppet but there are some on the regulator, but it's easy to replace or repair, degas the gun, remove the stock, remove the bottle, un-screw the 4 set screws on the drop block, spin off the drop block counter clockwise, once off, you should have access to the poppet and spring, good to replace any O-rings and lube them with Silicone grease, make sure the poppet seat is clean. it should only take an hour at most to complete the repair, the gun is very simple setup, they try to make is sound like these things are extremely complicated, they're not..... just Valves, springs and O-rings.... a little more stuff added.... ;)

Well guys I will have to put this on hold for a little while. I'm getting cataract surgery on my shooting eye tomorrow. Shouldn't keep me down too long. Will get back to you when I get back to it. Thanks for all the help. I am going to try dunking it soon. Bill
Wow, hope it all goes well, I may have to do that sometime in the near future, good luck and when you feel up to the task of fixing the leak, we'll be here to help.... ;)

Best of luck with surgery, hope healing is fast. Dunking seems drastic, wasn't my idea, read about it on this forum, as second owner of this leaker it's time to solve the mystery. May take some time till you eventually see the bubble, but you'll be way ahead in diagnosing the problem. Our experts will zero in on the source once exit point is found. WM

Well guys thought I would give you an update. My eye surgery on my shooting eye went well so far. I have 20/25 in that eye now from 20/40. The Bantam was down to just below the green in 5 days.
I contacted AOA parts today and asked about buying a new filler valve. When I described my issue and the valve in there now he said it was the original valve that was recalled and offered to send one right out if I pay the postage. Even though the gun was bought there originally, it was not by me. That was really a standup thing to do I think.

Well guys I installed the new fill valve and sorry to say no difference. It still has the very slow leak that takes about 4-5 days to run out. I really hate to submerge it in water but that may be my only choice. I do like the Brocock so much though that I bought a brand new one srom AOA. A Sniper XR Sahara in 22cal. Can't wait to get it.

If you changed the oring in the fill valve I’m thinking maybe the leak is coming from the reg guage it’s a 22 mm spanner to get it off. This is also a good way to degas gun but only unscrew until you start to hear air coming out. Once degassed check everything inside reg housing also check dowty washer on the threads. Good luck

Thank you for your suggestion but I have had both gauges out and replaced both dowty washers. Also replaced it on the new valve. I have fixed leaks in quite a few airguns over the years but this one has me stumped. I also tried sticking the end of the barrel into a bucket of water but no bubbles. I really want to thank eveyone for their suggestions. I may have to send the rifle to AOA. I do admit I have way more experience with co2 and springers than PCPs.
