New (to me) Cricket .25 @37 yards = 1 hole

Picked up this Ernest Rowe Cricket .25 from a fellow AGN member and finally got to try it out today. I know, I know, 37 yards is hardly worth noting. What's worth noting is that this group was shot in a huge hurry, on a crap rest with an unfamiliar gun. WOW. If it shoots like this when I'm being sloppy, I can hardly wait to go full-on OCD with it! My other pcp's are 47" long bench queens, and big bores, hence the appeal of this compact little beast.

"TonyT"It will shoot equally impressive groups out to 100 yards - enjoy!
I've heard they're pretty amazing at long range, but most shots where I hunt are 20-50 yards. I'll *try* to resist the urge to stretch this thing out! If I give in (and I will) I'll be tweaking the reg to shoot 35gn heavies around 900fps.. Worst case, I have a 60+ fpe hunter that's dialed to twice the distance I use it for. A good problem to have.

When I received my Cricket in .25 it had a 12 ft/lb spring installed (which I did not know about). I quickly ran out of vertical adjustment on my scope and the pellet would still not follow a more or less straight trajectory to a 25 yard target. I quickly surmised what the extra spring with it was for and installed it. It has now become my favorite .25.
Took a coyote with it and JSB 34's at 50 yards (heart / lung shot).

My take. There are instances where a heavier pellet actually develops less muzzle energy than a lighter one in any given airgun, tune notwithstanding. Whether that is the case with yours, remains to be seen. I have a .25 WAR Cobra, and although you can tune it to shoot the heavies, group size wise, the 25.4s are half that of the heavies at reasonable ranges. Currently, the 25.4s sail along at ≈890 fps.

"Remcow"My carbine shoots 34 gr at 860 and 25.4 gr. at 950 fps. The 25.4 are a bit more accurate. Its a perfect hunting tool, light and accurate!!
Question: is that a manometer i see on the tube? Never seen that before on a cricket.

I had to scroll up and look at the pic again. I guess the manometer is for regulator pressure? I wouldn't be surprised if it's an Ernest Rowe gun. Nice.

These Crickets really are not given the credit they deserve. They’re design is elegantly simple and because of that, they are a sinch to work on.
Mine, right now is shooting maybe a hair better than my Impact at 60 yards. I had it at 860 FPS but slowed it to 830 and it tightened right up. Same speed for my Impact. Mine’s stock with the synth stock. I’d love to get one of those killer custom stocks that I’ve been seeing to lighten it and just to make it look even more bad ass. I did the trigger o-ring mod and it is now beautifully light and crisp. Did I mention that I REALLY like this gun?

Yes, it's an Ernest Rowe gun. Couldn't pass it up when I saw it on the AGN classifieds. It has become my go to hunter. I hunt dense cover and rarely get a shot over 40 yards. Got er dialed in with polymags now and it is a killing machine. 13 squirrels / 1000 batting average (posted pics in the hunting forum) Love this thing!
