Beeman New to me R8 is a keeper.

Yes I opened it up and replaced the piston seal. Took it to a machine shop and they said the tube was out of round. Krale said since I opened it that they would not warranty it. There so called gun smith said the tube was fine. After I replaced the cylinder tube it was fine. I contacted Weihrauch and they didn’t do a thing.

Oh …… I believe I have an email address to one of their owners …. I would have politely hammered their business practices.

What velocities were you getting ….. way low?

with the HW35 22 caliber any where between 580 and 300 FPS. Velocity with the HW77K 22 caliber was around 620 FPS.

also had a newer HW77K that shot a pattern like a shot gun. Ended my dealings with newer Weihrauchs And Krale.

I’ve only had one HW that was frustratingly inaccurate - but not a pattern Gun.
Since mine was a .22, I swapped out the barrel to .20 caliber - $113 at PA.
It’s now my most accurate gun.

Unfortunately, that doesn’t work with a HW77 …. all you can do is scrub/lap/polish the barrel with 400 grit clover and then JB NE Past. Check the crown/breech seal.
If still a pattern gun, return it …….. .

Yup, receiver likely out-of-round!
The HW77 s/b 650+ with 14 gr pellets.

Side note, my experience with .22 caliber hasn’t been great with HW’s.
I mean, they’re not bad, but no close to the same command as .177 and .20 caliber.
I currently own 11 HW’s ….. none in .22 caliber.

How's this for a crooked barrel. This was an almost new Hw35. The owner never noticed it IIRC. I'm not sure of the date of production. I believe its from just before the ditched the beloved fiinger groove stocks.

I see lateral barrel misalignment even on some older HW's - but always slight, and invariably off the right. (I've actually wondered if they did that on purpose to compensate for vigorous right-handed cocking over time - prolly a reach, ha.)

Worst I ever saw was back in Beeman's hallowed "Santa Rosa" heyday. A local sporting goods store carried airguns for a while and I remember an R7 on their rack, with a barrel so far sideways that it was obvious from halfway across the store.

Sheesh. I would like to think it didn’t get out of the factory like that. Or at least didn’t leave Beeman’s like that. I remember they used to have a little inspection report they included with the gun with the gent’s initials showing it was in good order.

Probably someone tried to cock the gun while holding it sideways.

Back to the R8. I aligned the barrel within one dial rotation up at 25 yards and half a rotation left. I shot this target with a bit of a left to right quartering head wind. Still some really good groups in there for the conditions. The worst ones were from accidentally changing my hold.

I broke out my modern 50 and it didn't shoot as well out of the rack but I have to say I like the way it handles much better than the R8. I might be looking for a trade soon.
