After checking out all of the reviews, I pre-ordered an Air Venturi Avenger with the wood stock in .22. It is due to ship by 5/27/21. I plan to use it primarily for pest control and squirrel hunting. I love to tinker with rifles, having built a few custom sporter CF riles from M98 actions. I am looking forward to tuning my Air Venturi Avenger for maximum efficiency and accuracy, therefore, I am also looking forward to learning from the members of this forum.
If I can get the right deal on a like new item, I will mount a Weaver Classic 3-9x32 RF scope with AO. I have also ordered 500 of the FX Hybrid slugs since they seem to shoot quite accurately from these rifles. I'm hoping to establish a tune for these as well as for the Crosman Premier pellets that are readily available locally. The Crosman Premier pellets shoot quite accurately at 770fps from my son's RWS M48 Diana rifle in .22. I'm thinking the Crosman pellets will do well at 850-875fps from the Air Venturi Avenger. Hoping for about an additional 100fps for flat trajectory with the FX Hybrid slugs.
Right now, getting a 60min SCBA tank set up and filled locally is the biggest hurdle. I'm not looking to invest in a compressor at this time. I found some 60min tanks with an 11/2010 manufacture date for a reasonable price. A local dive shop will send them out for hydro testing and will fill it for $10. The major hurdle is getting an adaptor that will go from the SCBA fitting to DIN. The dive shop does not have one and it will cost me almost $100 to purchase one. The dive shop is also 35 miles from my home. I'm looking to see if the local Fire department will fill; it, but with COVID restrictions they are not open to the public at this time.
Anyway, if anyone has any advise,. I would appreciate hearing it.
