New to PCP, Looking for scope guidance

Hello all

First posting here, and I have a few questions on optic choice for my first PCP air rifle. I own quite a few mid to high quality optics for my rimfires ranging from old B&Ls, Luepold EFRs, March FFP, SWFA FFP, and Nightforce BRs. 

Any special considerations on durability issues mounting any of these optics on an FX platform? 
 
A scope with a NO BS LIFETIME WARRANTY (ESPECIALLY if it's made in China) and SFP specifically is what I prefer.

The rest depends on you and how much you want to spend or save or get the ABSOLUTE BEST BANG for your buck (OR NOT!). I own a lot of different tier level and priced scopes under $100.00 to over $4000.00 and can't stand FFP reticles since even for my most expensive tier1 scopes they simply aren't useable in real world situations on their lowest magnification settings you probably know what I mean.

If you like the SWFA SS glass you Will probably like this scope even better. No mater how cheap it is it is kinda freak of nature how crystal clear and bright it is.

You probably be wowed when comparing it to your other high end scopes.

Don't be surprised if you end up paying 4x-5x the price for other popular brands of scopes made in China and get glass that's not as nice. There's a lot of JAPAN ONLY scope lovers that now buy this Chinese scope after they looked through one.

If you have money to blow and insist on buying Chinese made then the new Hawke Frontier is a more expensive option that really impressed me. The two Frontiers I recently bought kinda blew me away it's clear white like the Leupolds and Alpha6 all the way to max power (no yellowing thats typical of Chinese glass) it beats the Athlons too except for the Japan made Cronus as well as the non Vortex Razirs.

If you prefer Japan made then these are deals that can't be beat if you like heavier scopes that are like Nightforce-ish.

If you buy scopes you have really no idea about especially when paying over $200.00 be sure to always buy from return friendly dealers and I frequently suggest buying 10 or 20 different scopes with the plan to keep 1 or 2 and return the rest for refund that are plain junk that aren't clear all the way to max power or have yellowing in their glass. It's not like you are actually spending the money to buy 20 scopes since you are returning 19 or 18 of them anyway. That's what I do and how I know what scopes are junk and not worth the money especially when using the Alpha6 as a baseline for direct comparison to do side by side testing with. I also use my Tract Toric to compare too if spending under $2000.00.

People use all the same scopes on PCPs (like FX rifles) that they do on powder burners. Nothing to worry about. You have to worry about the scopes on other types of air rifles like springers and such, but FX PCPs have no issues to worry about for scopes.

Thank You, I was uncertain of any inherent scope killing tendencies or not on PCP rifles

☝ adjustable front focus or side focus 10 yard (or so) parallax focus prefered for airguns.

Certainly NOT 50 or 100 yard focus centerfire scopes.

This is most certainly a must, I have quite a rimfire collection all of which the parallax minimum adjustment is mandatory. Just picked up a March F1, and its minimum is 10 yards. I have a VX3 EFR 6 -20 that I might swap over until a dedicated optic is found. Anyone running the VX3 on a Dream Line or other ?

I don't understand why Odoyle doesn't like FFP scopes. I prefer them. Further, I really like the Chinese Discovery scopes. The glass is bright, not yellow and exceptionally clear in my experience. As others have stated, airgun scopes must focus down to 10 yds. i have no issues with the Discovery reticles either, although, my next Discovery scope will have an illuminated reticle. I think there is real value and bang for the buck with Discovery scopes. All I can say is try them and make up your own mind.

He has mentioned that he doesn’t like them because of how small the reticle gets at low mag. He must use the wide range of magnification on his scopes.

I personally prefer FFP, because I like larger reticles, but I also never use the low end of the range. I think the could chop off the bottom end of most and I would be perfectly happy (personally).

You will find that many here use a wide range of scopes including the high end stuff you like. People use cheap $200 scopes up to March 8-80 and NightForce ATACR.

I'm searching for the "right" scope myself. I'm sure I'll be chastised for not properly using the search options, and probably justifiably so. Noobie to all this. Longtime bowhunter so new to all gun stuff. I do own a .303 Enfield and .12 gauge Model 12. On the list to by a Leshiy. Those Frontiers look to be nice scopes (by my eye). As the Edgun is bullpupish, should I be looking for a shorter, lighter scope? Firstly, my apologies to the OP for straying from his original query. Thx for any help.

Saw you posted in the Leishy scope thread. If you do search for Leishy in the titles of the optics section, you will get some good ideas. Not chastising, just suggesting. I posted a similar question when I had my first Leishy.

Scope decisions depend fully on how you want to use it. For a Leishy, I do believe shorter and lighter are better, but that is because I would be using it for hunting/stalking, so those features would be important. Jungle shooter has posted several spreadsheets in the Optics section offering a wide range of options for small scopes. 

Check out a couple of those threads to give yourself some more details. That will help you know what to ask next.
