New to PCP

Hello everyone. As the title states I’m fairly new to PCP air rifles. My uncle passed and I got one of his PCPs. It is a Kalibrgun Cricket Carabine. I have been trying to gather some info as far as how to tune it and adjust it without much luck. If anyone has any info I’d greatly appreciate it. Don’t want to start screwing and unscrewing things without knowing what I’m doing. I’m gonna be looking for another rifle as I’ve caught the bug. Looking foreword to learning from you all. Duane

It’s difficult to give any advice without knowing what the rifle is doing. Under normal circumstances, you can turn the hammer spring adjuster in until the gun won’t cock. Then back it out until it will. This will give you max velocity but may not give you best accuracy. I have a Kalibrgun Cricket.25 and they seem to be pretty accurate at most any speed.

A chronograph would be a good investment, there’s really no way to tell what your rifle is doing without one. Welcome to the forum, you’ve pushed a snowball down a hill!😉

Welcome Dewy! My condolences for your uncle's passing.

He left you a great airgun- have one in .22 & it's been outstanding. If you search "Ernest Rowe Cricket" on YouTube, there's a treasure trove of how-to videos for tuning, modding, & repairing the 1st generation Cricket. He's working on the bullpup version in most or all of them, but the action is the same as on the Carbine & Mini Carbine.

Not much can be done without degassing & going into the rifle, but you can access the hammer spring tension control in the back of the action just by removing the stock.

Would recommend shooting it first to see if performance & accuracy are acceptable to you. If you believe it needs work & are not comfortable doing it yourself, there are some great Cricket tuners out there. Charlie Frear at Georgia Airguns did mine- he tunes all the guns he sells, but I'm not sure if he offers tuning as a stand alone service.
One who definitely offers tuning is Derick Wall ( @zx10wall ), & many folks here on these forums will attest to his talents.

Dewy -

WHY...do you think it NEEDS,,,tuning ?
Shoot the gun as is. LEARN...the gun, before you start tearing into something that just...may not need a thing !
IF...you want to shoot a different projectile than your uncle had it tuned for...again, give it a try, it may shoot just fine ! Most guns will shoot a verity of projectiles very well without ANY internal changes.

Maybe...your uncle had it tuned long before he died .

Mike

The gun shoots great. Just looking to learn more about it. Id like to tweak the trigger tho fore sure.
Just be aware that if the trigger gets adjusted with too light a pull the gun might not cock. Look up posts here for Kricket trigger adjustment or YouTube vids for same. I agree with MikeVV, shoot it & learn it AS IS for now. THEN you'll know what, if anything, needs work. Good luck!

There is a lot of info on this forum and a lot to learn being new to air guns so do some homework. Maybe ask on here if anyone lives in your area, they might be able too help you out and show some of the do's and dont's to PCP'S. I have a cricket carbine and a cricket tact II 60 great guns btw. Welcome to AGN and the money pit. Good luck
