N/A New to pcps any recomendations

Im new to pcps the most experience i have is with co2 bb guns and and pump rifles. What should i get for my first i want something with atleast 35ft lbs of energy preferably in .25 im trying to be at $650 all in with a hand pump. Thanks. Edit i was thinking about the hatsan galatian. Also prefer semi auto

Yeah, I'm certainly no expert in this PCP area. Basically I'm not interested in hand pumping-but that's me. As for your inquiry, I believe the benjamin maurader fits that bill in both regards, price, and lower working pressure. Gun has a solid reputation and many can still derive good enjoyment and still hand pump it. But there are many with a better background in this area than me who will weigh in on this question.

Thanks for the input i plan on getting a compressor eventually just dont want to break the bank off rip

Centerpoint scopes are a good entry level scope and easy on the budget. Pyramid is a respectable vendor with an excellent reputation. Get some good pellets while you are shopping.

I've been hand pumping my PCP's for the better part of 10 years and it doesn't keep me from shooting as much as I want. I can shoot a tin of 500 in a day and refill quite a few times. Most tube reservoir guns aren't terrible to fill this way. You're going to want that hand pump as a backup anyway, so might as well start there and see how your interest fares. If you like it, then there's justification for throwing more money into equipment.

10 'meaningful' posts... you are well on your way. It's a controversial requirement for some, but really... for anyone really interested in learning, that requirement will go by very quickly. Just ask questions, engage and it'll be over before you know it. I think there is a 10 day minimum as well, but I could be mistaken. Replies count, yes... as long as it's a thoughtful reply. Just replying with 'yes' or 'LOL' or such wont count.

Try not to buy anything until you have more money to make a wise investment:

1.- A quality rifle that can last you for many years. This will make you save a lot of money; and

2.- An affordable compressor that makes the hobbie enjoyable.

If you want a .25 Cal rifle, try to find one that shoots in the range of 50-60 fpe. If .22, then 45 and up fpe. That will allow you to shoot targets farther away 100 yards.

Look constantly at AoA used section, there you can find super rifles at a very affordable,price compared to new ones:


DO NOT decide to buy ANY rifle if you have not receive feedback from users of this forum. Based on our experience we will make you to know pros and cons of all rifles we have shoot with. Then your jump will be less risky.

Welcome, this is a super Forum to learn a lot and with a lot of fellows open to help.

I personally recommend to avoid a Hatsan as a first rifle. They are more of a "project rifle" than a dependable shooter. I do not recommend a semi auto as a first rifle either. They are complex and chew through air and pellets. YMMV

You are not going to get s semi-auto for that price or be able to hand pump such a rifle. A Hatson (Turkish) is trouble IMO as are most of the China products, some are good, some are not, some are inbetween. A Marauder is a solid base to start with. The .25 barrel is known to be accurate as are all four of mine. And easily make upwards of 50 fpe, at 35 fpe, easy peezy.

You want a simple, functional, quality rifle that is easy to service, has a company support who answers the phone and parts are easy to get and USA made? That is a Benjamin Marauder. You might also consider their new (releasing in March) 3622 for a good starter rifle that will be easy to pump but not meet your 35 fpe or .25 caliber (it is 16 fpe and .22 caliber). The 35 fpe and .25 caliber will mean 16 to 24 shots per fill cycle with a Marauder.

at the price point you mentioned, I don't think semi auto is going to be realistic. I have 2 recommendations, 1st, is the air Venturi avenger. with the avenger you will either need a hand pump that can go to 4500PSI, or just fill the gun to 3500PSI, power is absolutely there. 2nd, Airforce TalonP. its goofy looking, its awkward to hold at times, but around 50FPE in 25 cal out of a pistol is insane.
