I got a new two cylinder air compressor from the link below today. I didn't have time to do much with it. The weather was great for this time of year, got to 81 deg..So I had some outside work I needed to get done.
Now for the compressor. It cme in a cardboard box with a foam box inside, with another cardboard box, with one more cardboard box in it containing the compressor. Well packaged for sure. It came needing only the cooling lines hooked up. And oil put in the crankcase.
The cooling pump just goes into a bucket of water. I made a container out of a 5 gal tidy cats litter bucket. I had that on hand. But with the easy open lid it makes a good cooling tank. Filled it with water, pluged the pump up to the 110 outlet and let it run. No leaks in the water system.
Next pluged the compressor into the outlet checked the air blead valve to make sure it was closed and fired the compressor up. It was not conected to anything so air just run out the hose. I let it run for a couple minutes to let it warm up and check for oil leaks, and to make sure nothing was going to blow up. The compressor sounds a lot better than I was expecting. Not very loud at all. I was in an inclosed garage, and it was not hard on the ears at all. Nothing leaked, and nothing exploded.
My 90ci. 4500psi tank had 2500psi in it so hooked it to the compressor and hit the switch. I let the pump fill the line to the tank presure before I open the valve on the tank.
The compressor fills the line very fast. You have to be ready to open the valve pretty quick. When it got to 2500 I opened the valve and let the compressor do it's thing. I did not have a watch or clock to time it. But it filled the 90ci tank faster then my single cylinder compressor will fill one of my rifles. I filled all my rifles with it. You have to be right there with it. It will fill a rifle in no time. I also filled my 68cu in. tank. This is what I was looking for. Now I am going to fill my rifles with the small tank and just fill it back up and go at it again. I am sure it will fill my SCBA tank up in 30 minutes as advertised. But I'm not going to. It has expired.
I am very impressed with the compressor. It is better made then expected. Runs a lot smoother then expected, and makes a lot less noise then expected. It is a no frills unit. It has a pressure gauge, on and off switch, and a plug. Thats about it. The compressor does what they said it would do. It worked the first time. No fixing anything. The repair/ rebuild parts are cheap. The sales person I worked with on my first compressor and this one has been nothing short of wonderfull. The single cylinder had problems right from the begining. The sales rep. sent me the parts to fix it, and emailed me several times to check up on the compressor.
I have no ties to the company, I'm just so excited to have a compressor to air up my tanks, I could just p@@p. I will keep you informed how it does as time goes by.
