That's true, thanks.Hey bust,
Nice write up on a beautiful gun.
If the lack of black on the stippling bothers you ….. as it would me….
You can easily mask off the stock and hit he stippling with flat back paint.
No one would know but you ……
In the last two weeks I did complete tunes on (2) HW50S and a HW35E.
Nothing like a few good projects during the “dog days“ of Winter.
This one seems to like QYS and H&N as of now.Very nice 98. Those QYS shoot very well in all my Springer. JSB, AA, and QYS all seem to shoot well in each of my 5 guns.
It is, and I adjusted it slightly down and tilted. The plate that's screwed to the butt stock was not aligned with edge of the wood when I got. It was off 1/8" to one side.uh,I thought that the butt plate was adjustable.
That is a position offered by that adjustment. My Avanti came set like that.It is, and I adjusted it slightly down and tilted. The plate that's screwed to the butt stock was not aligned with edge of the wood when I got. It was off 1/8" to one side.
You've made an excellent choice. Just shoot it in factory condition, and snug up the screws after every 100 shots for the first tin. If you want it to be easier to cock, just drop in a 12fpe tune kit. Enjoy.I am patiently waiting for my Weihrauch HW97k .22 with walnut stock. Should be here today. This is my first air gun so I have a lot to learn. I am 80 yrs old so not a lot of time left to enjoy it. Now I need to select scope and mounts. No hunting, just plinking.
Thanks, it's currently on the bench in pieces..lol.Absolutely beautiful 98 and nice shooting! I love my HW98. They will hold their own with the best of them. Thanks for sharing the pics and overview![]()
A good scope and rings combination is the Hawke Airmax 4-12x40 and a BKL 260 droop mount. I have this on my .20 HW97kI am patiently waiting for my Weihrauch HW97k .22 with walnut stock. Yeah it's grown on me now, I like it. But the black looks good too IMO.Man, that stock without the black stippling and forend accents is handsome! It makes an already classy gun even more so. I’m jealous! If you decide you absolutely NEED the black let me know. Mine is minty and I’d be glad to trade!

You should have ordered the scope and rings already. You will be disappointed that you have no way to aim your new rifle since, if I remember, that particular rifle comes without open sights. But you have time, I'll give you 20 more years ;-). You have lots of options, @maxtrouble gave you a great one. I don't think you will need a droop compensation set of rings, (fixed barrel), any cheap Amazon medium height rings (with a stop pin) will work well with an objective of 40mm, high rings will be better for 44, 50 or 56. Tons of scope options available, the cheaper Hawke scopes ('Vantage") are only rated for 12 fpe or less, your rifle is more powerful than that. The Airmax can be pricey. Athlon scope are awesome, springer rated, have a great warranty, and quite a bit cheaper. I do prefer more magnification, 16X or even 24X, and I'm a bit younger than you. Thanks, I now have two of them..lol.bustachip, that is a really sweet looking rifle, I like it and congrats. Good shooting too. I've never owned an HW98. I have enough spring guns now to cover all my bases but if I could only have one gun, or one break barrel and maybe an under lever, the break barrel would definitely be an HW98!
