NEW WILDCAT.22 CAME TODAY - HAVE A COUPLE QUESTIONS....

First off - the hole in my checkbook is Ted's fault - gonna try that one, will let you know if it works. Seriously, though - OMG this gun is better than expected and I was harboring very high expectations. It is my first ever PCP - moving up from a RWS 350 mag - WOW!!!!

I got a three stage FX pump and I am not sure everything is like it should be- - here are my questions (sorry to be such a noob!)

1 - I pump up to 200 BAR just fine. Then, it is like the pump doesn't want to work anymore - won't go up or down. Manual doesn't say much about anything - is it limited to 200?

2 - What is the maximum fill pressure for the gun? - Seems like I read 230, but the gauge goes to 250....

3 - What is the low pressure level where the gun goes "off the regulator"?

4 - I want a little more barrel length after watching my kids shoot off of sand bags. Worried somebody is gonna stick a finger in front of it - Is it true that I can put a .25 cal moderator on it to avoid affecting POI?

In the meantime, the gun shoots great, half a dime sized groups at 50 yards - stunning!

Thanks,

Randy

4 - If you've got the short version of the .22 Wildcat, the shroud only pokes 1-2" beyond the cylinder. Then your quickest option is to get a stackable moderator on the end of it.
The .25 version of the stackable will fit and make 'clipping' less likely, though having the bigger holes will make it slightly less effective.

As the barrel is free floating beyond the clamps and the shroud attaches to the muzzle, any hold that touches the shroud is likely to shift POI or cause clipping. There is a pesky wabbit hopping around today because I made that error, resting my shroud against a fence post.
Heavy moderators are likely to cause the same effect.

I have a .22 Wildcat with a .25 Huggett moderator on it. It is very quiet. I bought the longer one, not belita, it is 6 3/4 inches. Got it at Precision air guns and supplies, advertised below. http://www.precisionairgunsandsupplies.com/mobile/Product.aspx?ProductCode=huggettforbobcat No clipping. Screws directly on after removing the barrel cap ring. It costs more than the FX stackable and I don't have both to compare the difference, but I can't imagine anything more quiet than what I have.

I have a 3 stage pump and find you just really to press down on the pump hard. I prefer to more or less jump on it, as I don't weight that much for it to be easy. I know mine hates lower bar ie. filling from 125-175, but then once it gets to 200 bar its happy. I fill by wildcat to 230bar as thats what FX says on the website. It's my understanding that since its regulated you can fill it to 250 bar, but I wouldn't recommend that just because.

Don't know if you've seen any instructional videos on pumping technique but technique with these pumps is critical. Large folks can pump with just their upper body. Keeping knees straight and bending at the waist. However keeping your body and arms straight and bending knees can be easier. With stiff arms and straight up and down posture that last bit of stroke can have a greater percentage of your body weight behind it.

i just got my .25 back in April and it the new version doesn't have a telescoping shroud that's the impact I know the threads on the stackable shroud are different though

as for problem pumping....most likely it is your pump specily if its been used a bit might need some new orings my old Benjamin pump wouldn't go past 2800psi until I did a rebuild

as for filling too 250 bar I did alitle research on this and really sure you can fill it that high but I've read that you can damage your regulator

just cuz its regulated and it has the fill capacity doesn't mean you not gonna damage something a that point I'm pretty sure the chamber itself that hold air can hold 4000psi but at what cost to the components and to your safety if something fails
