New Xisico Compressor - Initial Impressions

Yep, got to love when the consumer becomes the beta tester! I got the vibration meter and an in-line filter from Amazon. I'm going to do some more testing again today to ensure it will fill my bottle guns to 250 bar. I find of mine bought one the same day I did and received it the same day, and he's having to return his because it won't fill past 2900 psi. He says it has a lot of internal leaks. He purchased from Flying Dragon as well, and Mike is taking care of him, so that makes me feel good about purchasing where I did.

Fun fact... Looking at the exploded view diagram of the compressor that's in the manual, there is a plug (part #13) called oil plug, so at some point, Xisico had to have initially considered an oil bath lubricating system and then changed to the grease. A funny fact, there is also part (part #49) labeled oil window. Unfortunately, with the way the case is constructed, there is no way to actually view this window without completely removing the compressor mechanism from the case! The side where this window is located is on the side with no opening to be able to see it! Nice thought, just not well thought out...

I gave it a pretty good run today, I filled my FX Crown from 150 bar to 250 bar. This air gun has a 580cc bottle on it, so it’s probably the most challenging air rifle I’ll ever fill with it. It is slow, but in a methodical sort of way! It took all of 15 minutes to top it off the Crown and the operating temperature maxed at 121F. I then filled my Royale from 150 bar to 250 bar after allowing the fans to run till the temp dropped to around 94F. The Royale has a 480cc bottle, so not quite the volume. The temp got to 126.5F, still relatively cool compared to other compressors! So, it’s no speed demon, but it is light, Compact, fairly quiet and get the job done!

These are the first run on the Crown, I didn't take pictures of the gauges after filling the Royale. It fills pretty quickly until it hits the current pressure in the tank, and it seems to sit for a while, possibly building enough pressure to overcome the opposing pressure in the tank, then it just slowly chugs along till it shuts itself off. Overall, I'm happy with it!

FLgunner,

I ordered from Wes in Canada because I could not find any source in the US. Flying Dragon didn’t even show up when I did a Google search for the compressor. They need to do something to improve their web presence. Wes assured me that any service needs would be taken care of in the US. I’m hopeful. Out of all the choices I’ve made jumping into the deep end with airgunning, this is the only one I’ve made without a whole lot of positive reviews from folks on the forums.
I’ve ordered purple HPA oil, the temp sensor you recommended, an hour meter, and a good in-line filter. I will keep copious notes, and share here. Thanks for sharing your expertise and recommendations.

For anyone interested, here are some pictures of where I put the temp probe to monitor the temperature of this compressor.

I slid the probe in between the top fin and secured it in place with a tie strap to the top fan.

I ran the line out of the plastic plug between the two fans on the back of the compressor. You will have to cut a small slit in the cent of the plug to feed the probe through it.

I mounted the gauge in a small frame I 3D printed from a file I got from Thingiverse. It's attached to the compressor with double sided tape.

I added a couple guides to secure the probe cable so it doesn't get caught on anything.

This puts it a a very good angle to observe what's happening while it's operating.

It sits on top of my workbench and the oil/water discharge is facing the wall. To prevent this from messing up the paint, I 3D printed a shield that slips under the dense foam pad and keeps it from splattering against the wall. I also put an old pellet tin half with a old foam ring under it to help catch the discharge and reduce the mess. I also used painter's tape to attach a piece of parchment paper directly to the wall to further protect it from any splatters. Hopefully, this works and my wife won't kill me for messing up the walls!

Just a heads up! The friend of mine who received a defective Xisico Compressor had sent it back to FDAR for a replacement. He just told me FDAR issued him a full refund and they are no longer going to carry the Xisico Compressor! This has me concerned because I purchased from FDAR specifically to have support should I have problems down the road.

I don't feel there is any miscommunications, I have been e-mailing back and forth with Mike this morning. He has not shared why he decided to drop the compressors, but I'm sure he has a good reason. I have e-mail Xisico USA and asked who I should contact should I have an issue in the future. It will be interesting to see if I get a response or not.

I know what you mean! I don't know if I would have purchased one of these if they had not been offered by FDAR. I just hope Xisico USA is responsive if we have an issue. I almost feel my friend dodged the bullet because his failed right out of the box. My fear is it runs fine for 8-10 months then dies and I'm stuck with a $450 boat anchor...

Hey FLgunner, any follow up info form Xisico? It would seem that the activity over at GTA has slowed to almost nothing in over a week. I saw a couple of days ago or so that Travis pinned his old video but other then that all those guys posting went silent. Also by chance did you ask the owner at FDAR why they made the decision to not stock the compressor anymore? I'm thinking their insight would be interesting to hear.
