Umarex New Zelos Inbound!

Finally pulled the trigger and ordered a .22 Zelos from Not Just Guns in Mason, Michigan for $425.40 total shipped. Also ordered a Huben Zelos Bottle Regulator from Hajimoto Productions and a 580cc CF Bottle direct from Tuxing.

A couple of questions

Are the stock Magazines okay as to build quality and reliability or are there better aftermarket available?

Looking for recommendations on pellet choice for longer range shots out to 75-100 yards on Ground Squirrels. Hoping it will like the Daisy .22 PrecisionMax Hollowpoints that my Xisico Sentry shoots so well but they're pretty light for long shots, especially with any wind, @ just 15.27 grains.

Also, what's the most effective budget moderator to make the Zelos more stealthy without adding more than 4-5 inches to the overall length?

I have a .25 Zelos that @Firewalker customized for me. A few hundred rounds with the stock magazines and I haven't had any issues although I do also have a Big Air Precision magazine as well (it adds a nice pop of green!). Buck Rail makes a really nice modular moderator that should work well since you still have the stock barrel shroud.

I have a .22 Zelos that I've had for about 4 months and I've had no problem with the stock mags. Mine likes just about everything I feed it. Slugs, pellets, likes both. As far as pellets go, it really likes JTS dead center as well as Benjamin discovery hp, also shoots FX,Nielson and H&N slugs really well. Hope you enjoy your new toy.

Are you using the Buck Rail on your .25? If so, does it significantly cut the shot report? By the Modular moniker, I guess you can run it short/long or in-between? $50 is friendly to my budget - I was looking at a Donnyfl Tanto for $100, maybe less 10%, but if the Buck Rail would be close in performance, would rather save $50+.

I've got 1 .25 I have been playing with for a couple of weeks, and should have a second inbound (if DRACS actually ships). Plan to have one set up for pellets and lots of plinking, and one for heavy slugs. I added 4 asymmetrical baffles to the shroud after adding a couple of small vent holes at the back, and it reduced the report by about 30db. There is not much left between the report and the sound the action makes. Set up heavy for slugs, the mechanical noise is what you hear at the action, but there is still no "crack" as long as I keep slugs in the mid 900's. I did add a 4" can to the front, but honestly couldn't tell much difference, but will try again with a sound meter to confirm the actual numbers.

So far I have changed both the valve spring, and hammer spring as well as made a new spring adjuster reducing preload on the hammer spring. I have a C88 bottle adaptor and 500cc CF bottle to add once I am done playing with tune(s). The gun shoots FX HADES very, very well, and for slugs (when turned up) it handles several very very well. The ZAN 33's are silly accurate at 75 yards. I've had many guns before, and am for sure enjoying this one.

Working on a new valve to try a few other options out.

I tried it but I have a custom 500mm barrel with no baffles. The shroud basically ends at the threaded 1/2x20 adapter so there's no extra space for baffles. . While it Buck Rail's moderator did reduce the shot report significantly, I found it a bit quieter with the DonnyFL Ryu moderator with 2 addtional baffles that I added. It added 2 more inches to the OAL but that's ok with me since it's "only" at 34" now.

Mines a .25, no magazine issues, I see no need to buy aftermarket. At the present tune the shot count is just under 2 magazines, so I see no need for more.
I'm shooting AEA 29.5 grain pellets, accuracy is fine. Still on the factory tune, I really need to dink with it for shot count and power level. Am too busy, but I pick it up to kill an occasional squirrel with it. I had an impulse 1350 on my shelf, so just used that... seems fine but they are expensive.
