NEWB Scope Advice/Variable vs Prismatic

Wow, thanks so much for the info! The other thing I forgot to mention is that I want something durable that will hold a zero well. I want to be able to throw this thing in a bag and not worry too much about it. It looks like the March 1-10s ticks all the boxes but I think I would be scared to treat it how I want to. :)

I keep coming back to the Stalker, but they're sold out and Brian from Edgun West has confirmed that they will be gone for a while (cry). That has lead me to the Vortex Spitfire 5x which looks nice on paper except for the parallax thing. Can you say what it was specifically that you didn't like about it?

That March is on sale currently but I have the same concerns given how I use my Leshiy Classics. For me to mount it correctly would almost certain require a single ring and have it hanging slightly over the hinge point. But I'd just buy a new pack with a foam cutout if I really had to have it.

If you can get it with that purposely built mount and it fits you I say go for it. It's a one piece mount that holds behind the turret housing as normal but then the front is oversized to hold the objective bell. Resale should be good. Euro Optic had some bundled with that mount as of yesterday.

Let me find a picture of the Spitfire 5x on one of my Classics and post back. Wanted to let you know about the bundle deals with that proprietary mount in case you wanted to jump on it before they're sold out.

Below is a picture of the Spitfire 5x on a Classic Leshiy. Even with that picatinny extension there was nowhere near enough eye relief for me. I believe member @mmahoney had the same problem. Yes it has about an inch more eye relief than the Immersive 5x series but the Spitfire is so compact there is not room to mount it far enough back.

I think @Larcat tried one on his Leshiy2 and returned it for similar reasons. Larcat eventually went with one of the Immersive 5x on his Leshiy2. I think the 5x30.

Worth poking through both of their profiles.

I also found the holdover points on the Spitfire reticle difficult to pick up at close distances. But I have some odd vision issues so that's possibly unique to me.

Shortly after I returned the Spitfire I got to demo an Immersive 5x30. For me it was the better airgun scope all around.

Is there a reason why you're not considering that along with the Spitfire? I'm really looking forward to seeing the specs on the longer eye relief Immersives.

Here is that picture. Not something I'd want to throw in a pack for a long hike.
