Newbe ordered wrong SCBA tank

Hello everyone. Hate for this to be my first post but I'm in kind of a pickle. I'm new to PCP and just got my first rifle in. Its a Hatsan Flash. Also picked up a Yong Hang compressor and SCBA bottle off eBay. 

Now for the issue. Looks like I may have ordered the wrong kind of SCBA bottle. This one has a nipple on the valve for snap-change. Does anyone have experience with this type of valve? Soon as I crack open the supply valve on the bottle all the air escapes through the nipple. 

Any help or advice would be much appreciated. Thank you.

It should be as simple as removing that fitting and replacing it with one from Joe B. Follow the link provided above and you will see what you need on his website. First and foremost, dump all the air from your tank before wrenching on the valve. They come out relatively easy, but you could roll the knob on the valve and release the air when your not expecting it. There is a tremendous amount of pressure in that bottle and it could hurt you really bad. I doubt highly you would break the valve when wrenching on it, but why risk it? You have everything you need to refill the tank, so dump the air first in a controlled manner. Take it outside, point the discharge fitting away from you, and crack the valve slowly. No need to open it up all the way, it will drain down pretty quickly and you will control the amount of noise to a tolerable level this way. You could also change out the SCBA valve for a slow flow valve from Joe Broncato. All his stuff is top quality Made In the USA and you can trust it to be safe. A quick phone call to his shop and he or his staff will set you up with everything you need. You could also source one locally from a Paint Ball supply store. Take the tank in with you and they should be able set you up.

Watch plenty of videos on YouTube for proper filling procedures with your compressor. I have heard of guys rupturing blow off over pressure discs and that has to sound like a bomb going off, so try to avoid that. I don’t mean to sound overly dramatic but I had an accident at work many years ago because I didn’t take time to drain the air compressor tank I was working on. I broke a valve I was trying to remove a fitting from and dumped all the air in the tank in about 3 seconds. The sound was horrendous and my friend/coworker went to the hospital for hearing loss. When they examined his ear, he had a tear on the outer ear drum that was bleeding. I too had ringing in my ears for hours afterward, I was just too ashamed of myself to go to the hospital. I now have hearing loss in that ear, most likely due to the accident. Eventually my friend made a full recovery, but I will never forgive myself for not taking the time to drain the air tank. That air tank was only pressurized to 260 psi, you are dealing with pressures 17 times that! 

I hope this doesn’t come off as preachy or condescending, that is not my intention. When I saw the self proclaimed newbie title to your post, I just wanted to reach out and caution you. I just want you to be safe and enjoy this sport for many years to come. Reach out if you have any questions.
