Newbie FX owner needs guidance. Are airguns more susceptible to rust than powder

First, I hope this finds all in good health and spirits!
I just received my FX Wildcat in .25 and expect my Bobcat in .22 caliber this week. I need to know what you more experienced shooter use to carry your guns for your trips.
Do these FX guns need more pampering compared to other brands. Are you using hard cases or nylon/poly combo stuff? I also would like to know if you use those sock type pullovers that have been silicone treated. Please give me some advise! I take care of my powder shooters well but have little in care of my own pcps. My earlier Falcons were well looked after by another party and I had no worries on their condition and care. But now my FXs are all mine to shoot and maintain.
Thank you for your time! Any personal experience are welcome!
Thank you!

I used hard cases. The cheaper ones are pretty light and I don't have to worry about banging the rifle on something. Those sock pull overs look like they would be a pain to get on and off, although I've never tried one. Even just going down to the basement to shoot I carry it in a case. It just makes it easy. FX guns (have 2) don't need any more pampering than other brands. They are made quite well. You'll see.

Thanks for the replies! I was at work and could not get on the net until my shift ended. I am always told to get Pelican hard cases that are lockable. My needs is not security but rust prevention. Probably invest in those silicone-impregnated socks that are pullovers to the rifle and then purchase something like Vapor Corrosion Inhibitors (VCI). The guns need to be in an enclosed area for this tech to work. Something to give me peace of mind.
Thanks again to all who responded.

When not in a gun safe, mine move in hard cases.

Just be sure to wipe down all the metal parts with some type of lube after each use. I ruined (aesthetically) one of my barrels because I put my sweaty greasy paws on the barrel & neglected to wipe it off. It only took a few days for rust to develop.

I really think it comes down to component quality if an item will rust or not. My 6 years old HW100 and FX cyclone and my powder burners never get wiped with oil or pampered in any way and not a spot of rust on them. They get pulled out from the safe by gripping the barrel so plenty of contact there..

Im sure a light coat of oil never hurt anything, but its MUCH more important to make sure the guns are dry when putting them away and that your safe is in a tempered room.
Also dont trust those humidity catching bags if you happen to have any of those in your safe. Most of them are garbage.

Living by the sea I always have the rust issue in mind. NEVER leave the gun in the safe after use without cleaning the metal parts with a cloth moistened with lube.

The advice I've always heeded is :-
Do not keep your gun in a 'travelling case/gun bag' for too long (esp. the egg carton, plastic foam type).

Be very aware of BLOOD on your hands etc getting into contact with ANY blueing. (it takes a few minutes to do its dastardly work).

Wipe ALL gun surfaces down with a light mineral oil before putting the gun away, a light oil will be good for metal & wood.

For the last you cant beat An Oily Rag - which should be standard issue for all.

I am close to Kailua Bay and the salt environment with high humidity caused me to keep my powder burners at my Nuuanu home (windy, rainy and cool). I am curious as to what are the things you all use to wipe down? The usual Birchwood Casey or WD40? It was mentioned that the FX is made of aluminum but is the inner bore steel? I was told not to use petrol based stuff on pcp near the air tanks nor internally but I am a bit perplex on how you clean the barrels? You have to have the power of the cleaners used in powder burners?! I have NOT cleaned the barrel yet and thought only of using those felt pellets? Anyway, I got some research to do....
Thanks to all you have GREATLY contributed to my education. I will get there faster as I soak up your experiences!
Thank you!

Plano AW tactical 36 inch, it's a bit like a Peli but not so expensive, longer version also available. Big advantage is a top and bottom layer of egg box foam , plus a central layer that can be made to fit the shape , to locate your rifle, and it is deeper than most. Seems airtight too. As for the rust, I noticed that the safety on the Wildcat is prone to rust, also the cocking handle on an old Verminator

Here's what I have learned. On my Verminator and 500 the power wheel and safety constantly need attention. Those are two parts that get a lot of use and since there is knurling on both of these it's harder to keep clean. Rust will appear if not extremely careful. The Airguns need to be wiped down after every use. Now do I actually do this...no but I should and will try to get better at that. As far as a hard case or soft case, mostly I prefer soft unless I'm shipping. Soft cases for me are much more convenient. I shoot at feedlots & I have my soft case open at my passenger seat for easy access. Much harder if in a hard case. Plus I don't throw my guns around. If you handle your guns in a rough manner you need a hard case. Hope this is helpful!

BTW, same thing for the cocking handle.
