Tuning Newbie Tuning Question

Hi all, I read a lot about folk sending their springers off for tuning but this usually seems to be USA based guys or companies. I'm in Europe
So I have a couple of questions:
1. Is there a Europe based tuner that provides this kind of mail-order custom "USA" style tuning?

Or, 2. For a non technical person who has *never* taken a gun apart, would I be able to install a kit myself like the TBT kit..or would I be likely to screw it up and ruin my rifle??

What Airgun?
How mechanical are you?

I've never tuned myself.. but here's my thoughts.. a lot of springers that the mainspring is preload.. in other words it's under pressure even when not cocked.. but there's ways to make your own compressor and depending on what tools you have you might have something that would work.. being a mechanic, welder and machinist, I have pretty much everything needed for any modifications.. except time..
the other thing is how much honestly do you know? as far as mechanical experience.. I've seen an done things broke down in a bind and no problem, just made due with the tools I had.. and yet I have seen others with tools that messed up a simple engine repair and totalled the engine.. "one has to know his limitations" .. yes that was a quote from a Western .. so if you are mechanically inclined it's very likely that between searching and asking people here if you have any questions that you could do it.. we have a great group of people who are willing to share..

I'm reasonably mechanical and have a good set of the basic tools, but no drill presses, benches, welding materials and that sort of thing. I don't have anything to hold or support the gun, like a workbench with clamps. I have cleaning and have 2 gas ram airguns, that I've never opened up. This upgrade would theoretically be on a springer.

Typical gun would be HW95 which I'm looking at purchasing currently.

Honestly, I'm not at a mechanic's level, on balance I'm more likely to mess it up and need to Duct tape a solution. :)

If there's complications like spring compression, specialist tools and fiddly bits, then I'm probably going to be out of my depth.

Which leads me to Q1... anyone know of a euro based service for the mechanically disadvantaged like me?

Make or buy a spring compressor.
I made mine from plans posted on the Gateway To Airguns website, located in the library section.

Weihrauch airguns have very tight tolerances; they only go together one way.
Don't force anything, because if it doesn’t fit, you’re doing something wrong.
Take plenty of pics while disassembling For future reference.

Watch a few videos on taking apart & tuning the HW95 as they’re available on You Tube.

well you are a lot farther along and much less likely to damage your gun than some.. you recognize your limits.. some people have tools and just force things.. there's a good comment about, watch some videos, take things apart carefully and take pictures.. compressing spring can be done with a simple homemade press.. fact is, you could likely do it with a bar clamp and a socket for a spacer.. but no doubt a simple press is easier.. and well hopefully someone else will see your post and they might know where to send your gun.. I'm in the USA and could recommend a few shops.. but you need local to your country sr least..
while I have not done that repair, if you attempt it and need help after watching some videos.. if you PM pictures with questions I'd be happy to help you figure out whatever you are having trouble with.. oh and that's another thing.. see if you can get a exploded parts diagram.. I do a lot of mechanic work, cars, trucks, tractor and excavator.. I use the parts diagram to work off of if I'm not sure how it goes together and I only use repair manuals for specifications, like valve clearance and bolt torque for like the heads..
again I hope you can find a place.. but I already like that you understand your limits and just don't start forcing things..
I'm also hoping that with the response, your question will stay in front so others, hopefully familiar with your area can help you with a shop..

Cheers Mark, appreciate the solid advice. No need for the work yet, just planning ahead, looking to buy the HW95 this week and wondered if I could make it better if I had to on my own, or would need a professional. Conclusion, I need a professional!

@CHPreps - Have you checked your local gun clubs? Find some local guys that shoot Weihrauch rifles. There is a probably a local tuner that is word of mouth type. Vortek sells a lot of tuning kits through Krale.

For most all things, a professional will do a better job than an amateur, including tuning a springer airgun. So that's not the question.
Maybe the questions are, "do you want to see what happens when you change things in your gun? Do you want to play with how it works?" And for that, only taking it apart and tuning it yourself will do. It is 100+ year old basic technology and isn't difficult, at worst you need to saw some wood to make a spring compressor, or have to put some body weight in on the cylinder/receiver while pushing out a retaining pin to let the spring out, and compress it back in. But it is all do-able. You might not make the gun shoot any better, and perhaps worse, but you'll learn a lot. And if you learn enough you can return it to the original state, or maybe eventually improve it.
Is there a cheap springer you could practice on?
