This is an AAFTA compliant FT pistol that takes maximum advantage of the rules. It cant have a moderator or shrouding that would make it longer than the 15” maximum barrel length. There might be an alternative version with a threaded barrel for a moderator, but the barrel would be about 3/4” shorter to allow for it. As an alternative, if you remove the buttstock from the RAW Micro Hunter you will have a silenced pistol with a shroud and ability to add a moderator.@Cloud9AG,
Thanks for the update!
Looks like it ought to be a really nice pistol as you would expect from RAW.
I am curious if the "finished product" will have any shrouding or moderator.
In the picture it looks like it could be kind of loud and possibly not very back yard friendly for those interested in that sort of thing.
We'll just have to wait and see.
Motörhead, we checked today and a carbon bottle would be within 3” of the bore centerline. Perhaps that could be added as an upgrade, but it will probably be heavier than the current pistol with the short 200bar aluminum bottle. In the AAFTA rules the FT game with pistols .. the established rule is NO GREATER than 3" bore center line to anything ahead of trigger guard. Small 200cc alloy bottle fits, Small ( whats out there ) CF bottles does not. MAX total barrel allowance 15", MAX Total oal 25"
Now honestly, there has not been a stock made for a Raw or Theoben PCP that meets the 3" fore end rule unless chopped on. All the alloy bottles 280cc or otherwise exceed 3" and can't see anyone outside of Ron ... lol, or myself chopping up a complete RAW rifle to make a FT pistol out of it
Now enter the "Chassis" and small 200cc alloy bottle, sub 15" barrel ... yup a pistol spec in compliance to established AAFTA rules.
And a BIG NO thinking AAFTA rules will change to fit the Cancel culture or Karen whining to extend whats allowed ... IMO
Ya know I have a 300cc bottle that is 51mm instead of the 62mm of most everyone else not sure but might be just under 3"
Same hammer spring just different preload with the hammer screw.I heard they are working on a way to go from 20fpe in the rifle setup to 12fpe for the pistol. Is it just going to be a different hammer spring?
I'm hoping it works out because it would give people more options like the Thomas
A PHONE CALL to Airforce in Texas would get that anwser direct from the manufacturer. It's been a while now and I haven't really seen any new information, so I'll ask again...
Any new news about when this might be available for retail sale?
Hey Cam, have you taken one for a test ride in full FT rifle configuration yet?I spoke with the president of Air Force/ RAW and there is a limited quantity being produced with options to purchase soon. Hopefully within a month.
I haven't heard solid numbers on the price, but if it's normal raw price or less due to not using a big piece of laminate it will be a great value. I personally have three customers in line wanting a full setup with one of these. I hope lots of people are interested, it would be nice to see these pop up at matches.
With my RAW Micro Hunter I was getting more than a pistol match worth of shots from factory. Now I'm getting 120+ at 11.5fpe. I'll apply this same tune to the new pistol/ carbine platform when I receive it from raw.
It's been a fun process chatting with the president of RAW, throwing ideas back and forth to get this design figured out. This will be the ultimate travel RAW, multi use for pistol and rifle. It's kind of a pain to pack two separate guns to grandprix matches, with the new rules for scopes It will be even more simple now.
I use magnetic wheels, and plan on using a 12x wheel and a 50x wheel with range markings for mag.
When I know more I can post more!
Looking forward to being a part of team Raw this year. Loved how well my HM1000 rifle and Micro Hunter shot two weeks ago at the Southern Oregon GP.
Cam
No I haven't! Still waiting for RAW to get them together. I have my micro hunter pretty well dialed in for ft, but before I go full on setting it up for WFTF PCP I figured I'd wait for this version to come out.Hey Cam, have you taken one for a test ride in full FT rifle configuration yet?
Do tell more? Pics and sources?Ya know I have a 300cc bottle that is 51mm instead of the 62mm of most everyone else not sure but might be just under 3"
