Taipan Next PCP, want a .25

I have a well loved and well used MROD in 22. Its served me well but I want to step into a .25 for some extra pop when hunting. I have been reading about the Tiapan Veteran (standard and the new model). I'm seeking opinions from owners. When did they roll out the new Vet? Can I still get an old one NOS? Comparing shot volume, should I plan on an additional moderator for a 25 Vet?

I noticed that the old one operates on 250bar and the new one on 300bar. With a single 4500psi tank I feel like a 250bar gun would allow more fills.

Yeti,
I've two original Veterans, .22 Standard and .25 Long, both in Beech. After good barrel cleaning, .22 shot JSB 18.1s out-of-the-box dead accurate, .25 didn't care for JSB 25.39s, dead on with 33.95s after 3/4 crank in on hammer spring @ 58 FPE. Of all my .25 PCPs, Taipan only one that doesn't care if 33.95s are MK1 or MKII. No moderator needed, both are simple and tough. Rear cocking can take getting used to but never bothered me. With increased interest in next generation, opportunity for buying a good used original should improve. WM

Excellent feedback. Thank you. How many shots per fill are you getting @ 58FPE?

That's the .25. Used small piece of red electrical tape to mark factory setting of hammer spring for reference. Used black felt tape for cheek rest as receiver gets cold, you can see it just above red tape. Really love my Taipans, they instill complete confidence for pesting and hunting, they'll never let you down. WM

Get you a taipan veteran 25 or a gen 1 kalibrgun cricket .25. They will shoot dead nuts right out of the box, and if you get one used, as long as the previous owner didn't torture it. It should still do the same, and you won't have to shell out over $1300. I have leshiys, Fx's, taipan, AEA, air force, benjamin, kervan arms, hatsans. Out of all of them, the first gen kalibrgun and the taipans, are the smoothest and most pleasant to shoot. You get accustomed to the rear cocking.

Utah Airguns had some open box specials on .25 Vets a week or two ago. Lowest was $899 I think. I'm kicking myself for missing out on that. Might have been the last of the original Vets to ever be sold. There were 3 or 4 and, typical for Vets, they sold fast.

They also had (and it still might be available) a salt and pepper laminate with Donny mod and adaptor. Price isn't quite as good but could very well be THE LAST one to be sold by a retailer.

I imagine used ones will come up in classifieds from time to time.....I just feel like buying from an established company is typically a safer bet.

Standard .22, most consistently accurate PCP I own. Never adjusted, puts JSB 18.1s wherever you want them. Not big .22 PCP fan, main adversary is crows, last one hit with 18.1 @ 25yards, (maybe 15 feet up in pine) back to me, flew up, up and away leaving puff of chest feathers fluttering to ground. Taipan did its job, caliber, not so much. WM

I’m a day late and a dollar short as usual.
