Niksan Niksan Ozark mods and impressions

These are the main mods to my Niksan Ozark.
Out of the box (before the mods) I did not like too much.
After these mods I am starting to like it.

After these mods, the only thing that could still be improved is the trigger.
The accuracy was good from the start.

Mods
  • I added a cheap regulator

I used this regulator and adapter:

To raise the regulator pressure from 1800PSI to about 2500PSI I used shims like this:
m8x16 50pcs, 0.1mm Thickness
  • I replaced the original fill nipple on the side with a 5K burst disk.
I use the regulator fill nipple to fill the air bottle.
  • I added a shroud
The original shroud is not working, since no air gets in there.
It just makes the barrel look thicker.
For the shroud I used:
-plastic tube (from Home Depot), about 1" ID, and almost 24" long
-Crosman 1/2-20 threaded baffle which screws on the barrel, wrapped in duct tape to get a tight fit against the tube
-3D printed (from TPU) barrel bushing which supports the rear end of the shroud

  • Trigger mods
The trigger is not adjustable.
There is a small square plate under the trigger which can be removed.
Then 2 small trigger springs are visible.
They control the weight of the 2 stages.
I replaced them with weaker springs.
The first stage length is unfortunately not adjustable.

Tuning

This is my current tune.

Niksan in its wisdom decided to not have a standard hammer spring.

They deviced something that looks like a TSS (twin spring system).
The TSS has a very limited adjustment range.
The TSS comes as a single assembly which seems to be impossible to take apart and change the spring.

DonnyFL (the importer and distributor) in its wisdom decided to replace the original TSS with a much heavier spring.
The DonnyFL TSS will give one magazine worth of useable shots (descending shot string), with the spread between shot 1 and 12 of about 35-40FPS.

I do not think that DonnyFL shoots the airguns he sells.
It may be that DonnyFL rarely shoots airguns.
