Nitrogen tank regulator and fill hose source.

Good evening (at least here in TX), Can anyone who uses, or has used nitrogen for charging their PCP suggest a source to purchase a regulator and hose connection to a nitrogen tank? I am pricing out my air source options for a pending FX Dreamline purchase, and I am seriously considering renting a nitrogen tank. I already own a Discovery and Maximus, which I both fill with a hand pump. Those are OK to fill with a hand pump (low volume and 2000 PSI). I'm not sure that I want to fill the Dreamline with a hand pump.

I just hope you can find a nitrogen tank at a good price, 

Here in Odessa the rent and the fill of the nitrogen tank is crazy, 300 dollars a month or more,

I live in Texas also. I looked into renting a 6K psi nitrogen tank. The price per year was cheap and the refills were cheap. The problem I ran into is I had to purchase a regulator that will handle this high pressure. The regulator was like 500 bucks. I'm out for now. May look into it at a later date. Maybe find a used regulator for a better price. For now, I am using an scba bottle with air.

Okay, so here is what I have found out in my area (North DFW):

A 3k psi bottle (not sure cu. ft.) costs $95/year to rent and $300/fill, so that is $400 for one fill. At the price, I think this might be for a tall floor bottle, but don't quote me.

A 6k psi bottle (not sure cu. ft.) costs $95/year to rent and $425/fill, so that is $520 for one fill. At the price, I think this might be for a tall floor bottle, but don't quote me.

None of that includes a psi gauge, and high pressure fill hose assembly, which adds ~$204 on top of the rental and first fill. So unless you are filling a 2000 psi setup, you probably want a 6k psi setup, which means around $724 to get started.

A Nomad II portable compressor costs around $700 + shipping, and is designed to fill airguns only, not CF tanks. It can be run off of a car battery (by design). A disadvantage might be that you have to deal with moisture more than you would with nitrogen, and you can fill a CF tank from a nitrogen setup (for field use, if you don't want to haul the 6k bottle around).

I'll have to call back to find out the cu. ft. of the bottles to round this information out (sorry about that brain fart...I'm blaming "the media/wall/president/fake news").

Why do you need a regulator ? The Joe B. setup with out a reg work fine if your not stupid about it. I filled scba tanks without a problem, just pay attention..

I am planning to do nitrogen as the closest scuba shop is like an hour away. Personally I would want the regulator just for the added safety.

I agree with Cosmic. I used the 6K Nitrogen set up and YOU DON'T need a regulator. The knobs on the tanks are big and beefy and it's very easy to control the pressure coming out. I did this for years with no problem.

Well I talked to local welding supply company, $100 deposit, 7.50 a month, $64.00 to swap tank and $8 delivery charge for 6K nitrogen tank.....I'm in!!!!

Spent the $489 for the Joe B regulator setup. It seems easy enough without the regulator but I'll spend the extra just so I FEEL safer.
