No fly zone

Setting up to do a little shooting from deck yesterday and these 2 guys harassing red birds at Feeders. Bad decision as the trusty Rapid .20 was ready to rock. It's so quite the birds don't notice. Jsb 15.9 heavy @ 900 really lay the smack down. Now back to the spinners.

Grackles are protected under the migratory bird treaty act of 1918. That's federal so it doesn't matter what state you are in.
@Calbarry

A listing under the migratory bird treaty act does not mean that it's illegal to shoot. It means that there are some protections in place. That may mean seasons, limits or as suggested, off limits and if off limits, there are often exceptions.

A few examples-
Coots are listed under the MBTA and there is a daily limit here of what, 25 a day?
Crows are also listed. Depending on where you're at and why you're shooting them changes the rules from a bird with a season to year around.
I have a 2022 swan permit sitting on my counter. They are protected under the MBTA. This is the fourth or fifth permit I've drawn. They are good eating and a memorable hunt. Pic for emphasis...
