No Password Recovery Option ???

Hello all,

I cannot seem find an option to recover existing password.
To change your password requires the old password, this makes no sense to me..
If i forget a password in ANY other place that requires one there is an option to do so, via textin or emailing a special code, a special link, or any number of other options.

Maybe i am missing something, if so i would appreciate a Moderator to reach out so i can proceed.

Thanks

I made 2FA optional this afternoon. If you logged in this morning while it was turned on, and you do not want to use it, simply go to Password & Security and turn it off.

The email verification is almost worthless if a scammer already has access to your email. The 2FA via an Authenticator app works flawlessly and exceptionally well. You only get prompted once a month for the verification code.

To reset your password try clicking on "Forgot your password" at login (again this assumes that a scammer does not already have access to your email)

If you need further assistance please DM me @Michael

This what i ran into this morning, when i tried to get on the forum the 2FA deal came up, since i forgot my password i could not do anything about it.
I managed to get in after doing what Michael said by disabling it, but if you are still logged in you CANNOT do a password recovery or change .

I am all for the 2FA deal if it will stop or at least cut down on the hacking nonsense and give buyers a better sense of security, my point in all of this is there should be an option to recover or change the password in the password and security section of the settings if you are logged in....

I have a word doc with all required info backed up on a 16gb flash drive. It's better than writing them in a book and easy to update.
It is kept in a special place here, same place every time so no worries about getting lost
The flash drives are free to me, I'd send you one for the cost of shipping but you can probably find it cheaper local.

You could also download a notepad app on to your phone

Fair enough. The reason that the site requires you to enter your old password before you can change it is because if someone is logged on on your account or somehow managed to get onto your computer while you were logged on or picked up your phone when you walked out of the room they can't change your password because they don't know the old one.

With all that said, if you are using your browser to log in automatically, which must be what you are doing, your password is already stored in your browser. You should be able to look at the settings in your browser look at the security options and find the stored passwords and you will be able to view them when you do.

Also if you open a second browser window because you don't want to lose the login you have and you go to the settings for your browser you should be able to find your saved password and view it so that you can then go back to the page in the browser where you are logged on and change your password. I hope this helps if it doesn't send me a PM and I'll go sit down at my desktop and write it out more clearly.

Didn't mean to cause any offense, in fact on a personal note my credit card was hacked yesterday. I guess I'm getting a bit frustrated with technology and it's pitfalls
Not at all sir. I was hoping to help. Been doing this technology thing for a long time... Very disappointed in the direction it has gone... And surprised at myself for not expecting it. TBH
