This is a fun post and I dont know why it isn't added to every day. When I first saw it I thought it was going to be one of those things that kept going on here for hundreds of pagesSame here. I get bored printing group after group.
Mainly use paper to verify POI so I'm confident when that critter shows up.
Since your guns spend a bit of time sitting it might be interesting to document how they shoot that first shot with a cold barrel
First Shot Cold Barrel
Have a gun that's been sitting a while? Perfect! Pull it out and show us your first shot on paper/fur/feather/steel/etc. Or it could be your daily shooter. Show us the first shot you took today. Can be any airgun - rifle/pistol, any caliber, CO2, springer, multi-pump, PCP. Target can be any...www.airgunnation.com
I have gotten to that point with firearms. So I can relate on a certain level. Right now I am waiting for my finances to afford an air rifle that can keep up with me.I came to a point where I want to shoot, take the air rifle, shoot one or two 5 shot groups at different distances which is always about the same good group, pack up a go put away the rifle. I am getting bored with target shooting. If it is not hunting, which I don't get regular opportunity to do, the rifle is not getting much use anymore. I tested most pellets available to me, I have the DOPE on all I shot so there is no challenge anymore. Luckily I did not buy more new rifles as I can see people are getting bored with shooting the same rifle, buy another just to go through that prosses again.
How often do you get to that state of mind? Is that when you start looking for a new rifle to buy?
I would be bored in five minutes shooting groups on paper. The only time I shoot from bench is to sight in the rifle. After that it's off hand, on sticks, or resting on something. I shoot reactive targets of different kinds and size. I believe this is better for practice in real world situations, hunting etc... I have never been bored doing this. And I usually shoot every day.
Hello everyone,
Well I started shooting paper targets in my teens to improve my accuracy for powder burner competition. I turned 83 this month and still enjoy shooting paper targets almost every day but using mostly PCP's now. Cannot imagine ever getting bored while keeping my shooting skill
