NOE .22/19.6 grain mold sized down to.20

Haven't had a chance to do any accuracy testing yet, but just wanted to throw this out there so folks know it's possible.

Here was recent experience sizing down 18.13 grain .22s to .20

Same thing works for NOE 19.6 grain .22 molds. So far only the Red Wolf shot them as .22s worth a hoot. Maybe they'll be more impressive as .20s. 

So a basically 20gr .20 pellet on the left, and a 25.4gr Monster RD on the right for comparison (MRD not sized down so still a .22 diameter pellet). Occasional mention of long-for-diameter pellets having really good BCs.....although the large meplat on the NOE cast pellet may reduce that some in this case.

Such FUN stuff ... especially when shot they perform well enough to fill that niche of a specific weight you can't get otherwise.

I recently acquired some JSB monsters in 25.4 being a few tins of originals and redesigns. I will process some of each threw my .199 resizing die and compare notes.

Have a few .20 cal PCP's currently operational where enough OOMPH is available to push em beyond 900 fps

Some pretty good results in your testing towards the end. A good experiment with very good results. Congrats on that.

I have often thought that that could be done but never had the need to try it as yet. I only have two guns in .20 a fifteen year old 2240 and a near fifty year old Sheridan pumper.

Having some trouble...

Decided to shoot a couple and see what kind of accuracy they'll do. Put a few over the chrono first and they're only doing 550 for about 13.5fpe. Hard to chamber too, so figured they're just a bit oversized @ the 0.203. Easy enough, adjust the sizing die. Got them to size down to 0.1995 (needle on caliper halfway between 0.199 and 0.200) without too much trouble. They're starting to look an awful lot like a little cylinder at this point, barely any skirt to speak of.....

Problem now though is that it's is giving them such a deep skirt that the Veteran's pellet probe isn't pushing them past the transfer port, not even close to far enough, pellet/cylinder is blocking off the transfer port.

I'm going to have to think on this one a bit.....the NOE dies come with those adjustable pins for varying skirt depths.....hmmm.....

Played with this a bit more and I think I've abandoned the idea of getting the cast .22s sized down to .20. 

Multiple problems, to the point of not even getting far enough to shoot them for accuracy.

• Seating depth
• non concentric sizing of "head" and "skirt." I think this is simply due to so much lead being displaced as I don't see the same problem when resizing JSB 18.13s down to .20. And I'm seeing the same lopsided effect from pellets cast from the pins with the next shallower skirt. So, even with shallower skirts I could fix the seating depth issue, but I'd still have a lopsided pellet. 

Well, it was fun at least but I'm putting and end to the, .22 NOE cast pellet sized down to .20, testing.

The JSB 18.1s sized down to .20 shoot fairly well. Next experiment will be with the 21 grain H&N Baracudas. In initial testing they seem to be sizing down in a more uniform manner than the cast ones.
