Not many things in life are better than carrying a freshly killed squirrel in your mouth…seriously

Penny treed this one for me. She gets to carry it for a while.

The rifle was the 20 Bowkett of course.

Congratulations on the squirrel and the dog.

My little rescue hound, Cola, likes to lay on the couch and watch the oak trees for squirrels when I am watching TV. She gets so excited if she sees one that she literally jumps off the ground and chases her tail in circles. She likes it a lot better if I drop it for her but doesn't seem to get mad if I can't find it or miss. Most of the time they are limp when they hit the ground so she will just lick the blood off and maybe mouth it once. But the second one I shot with my P35-177 wasn't quite dead yet and she enjoyed shaking it throughly. She got a rabbit on her own once and hid it from me until she had eaten the ears.

I've done nothing to train Cola to look for squirrels for me. She saw me shoot one and got real interested real quick. It's just her God given hunter instinct plus her desire to please me I guess. I need to train her to retrieve them but for now she just finds them which is still helpful. She is so over excited that she sometimes runs past them, however, and I get there first.

Cola doesn’t exist without a pic…

Penny and I learn to hunt together chasing chipmunks. At the same time I was training her for pheasant hunting. She is absolutely awesome.
