Umarex Notos Magazine Problem/Issue

So I just got my Notos in and did the whole PyramydAir 10 for $10 along with the 24 hour air test. I finally had some time yesterday to shoot so I loaded up the magainze and threw it in the Notos.

I could not get the cocking lever back down. It would go to about the halfway point and not go down. I figured/thought the pellet might have gotten jammed or something so I tried taking the magazine out and couldn't get it out. I also couldn't really force the cocking lever down. I tried to pull the lever back all the way to get the magazine out and couldn't get it out either. Eventually with the lever all the way pulled back, I accidently bumped the trigger and the Notos "shot" air out. After that I was able to cock the gun and shoot it normally.

Any ideas what happened? Is this the magazine getting jammed? I'm planning on buying the Maple Leaf Magazines as those seem to be way better quality.

Also, does pulling the trigger on the gun with the cocking lever back damage it at all? I'm assuming it just shoots air out and "uncocks" the gun?

Not sure what happened there. Hopefully, it was just a one time glitch of some sort. It sounds like the magazine may have had something to do with it.

I'd highly suggest getting magazines from Troy at BigAirPrecision.com. He ships quick and they work very well! There is a special where you buy 3 and get one free. He also has moderators and it seemed to drop my sound level by a good 5db. Free shipping too!

I would suggest getting a wooden dowel a bit smaller than the barrel. You can then push it down & free the pellet. Also good if you accidentally double load pellets, we’ve all done it.

i wouldn’t suggest pulling the trigger with the bolt back but sometimes you have no choice. I really doubt you did any harm to your new Notos.
Maple Custom Products has great magazines, the single shot tray is the cats meow too.

Did you per chance use JSB Hades pellets? I did and had an immediate jam. I took the barrel off as that is quite easy if you have the right allen keys. Needless to say that that was the only time I used the Umarex magazine.
Nope. I was using Predator Polymag. It hasn't jammed since that initial time. I've put about 4 magazine worth though it and havne't had any jamming issues.

Yeah.... hopefully it was. I'm thinking maybe something happened and the bolt just smashed the pellet and deformed it which is why the bolt (and cocking lever) didn't go down all the way.

That's a good idea with the wooden dowel. I'll need to head to Home Depot anyways. :D

Yeah. I'm hoping there's no damage. Seems to shoot ok (i have terrible aim so I'm assuming the gun is fine).

My Notos arrives tomorrow. After all I've read and seen, I ordered 2 Maple mags to not have any stock mag issues, plus the bonus of extra shot capacity. They won't arrive until next week sometime so I'll have a few days to play around with the stock ones. I've already told myself if there's any loading issues between tomorrow and the new mags arriving I won't let it negatively effect my opinion on the Notos, since before buying it I knew this was an area of concern. While your issue may not have been a mag failure, I'd almost be willing to bet it was. Hopefully it's all smooth sailing for you from here, but if it happens again I'd definitely try a different mag.
