Umarex NOTOS Owners and modifications:

I thought I see an adapter that threads on the shroud. Is that not possible?

C88Machining is AWESOME!

BUT

I dont like the front end cap adapter. I have been sent three barrels with them completely jammed on the barrel after the moderator has been removed. It took some work to remove them and I still had to machine the front of the barrel anyway!

I urge people to send them to someone with the tools and knowledge to remove the moderator housing without damaging the barrel.

I wonder if there is a simple solution? ...like a light film of moly grease?

The Notos seems like a inexpensive, short, accurate airgun option.
Plenty of satisfied owners here, performing their own modifications.
Most these mods, seem to be focused on increasing the air capacity, by attaching a bottle.
Personally, I am more interested in increasing the power, while still maintaing decent accuracy....
Im courious if anyone is increasing the FPE and if so, by how much, and still maintain resonable accuracy???
my notos can do an average of 28.5 fpe using 25.39gr dead center pellets with the stock barrel. i keep it at 20-22 fpe to keep regulated shots at around 25. all ports xpanded and barrel port expanded into an ovoid shape angled to expel the air towards the back of the pellet. plenum and still on the stock air tube. accuracy is unaffected. i shoot at golf balls 50-60 yards away

that laser is an inch above the barrel and zeroed for 22 yards. watching pellets fly through the beam looks and makes me feel like i’m shooting a plasma rifle. 😆i have a clocked z-block and cf tank as well, but i enjoy the slim profile of the tube

The front bushing/adapter is machined with tight tolerance to maintain bore concentricity with the moderator. This minimize clipping issues. The problem comes with over tightening the set screw which mar it and raise material. This makes sliding it out difficult and damages both barrel and adapter. A better way is to snug it up then remove it, you will see a circular mark and you can drill and dimple it so when it is re-installed and torqued, no material is pushed up. Or you can also install a brass insert between barrel and set screw. Also use anti-seize to prevent galvanic corrosion.

OK, today I started with a new in the box Notos, I ported it front to back at 5mm, twin thimble ports at 5mm as well.

2900 psi regulator with the stock hammer spring and got a whopping 915fps with CPHP's!

I figure that once I change over to the Z-block, put a plenum on it and a bigger bottle, I should be able to tune it and settle on a pellet for her.

I stole the mod, drop-block, reg and bottle from my EDS but she will be getting them all back when I switch over to the Z-block.

Great mods! Is that an FX sidelever on the Notos? Is it a direct drop in and for which gun is it?

Good eye!

Yes, it's an FX Maverick cocking lever/arm/screw (all sold separately) and they run about $50 from UA.

NO, it's nowhere close to a drop in. It takes me a little over an hour to cut, shape, fit and then profile it to fit

Well done, you did a lot of great mods on the Notos! Do you have a website or anything?
Bummer that it takes so much effort, I think the (lack of a) handhold of the Notos sidelever is a misdesign IMO...

I thought so too… until I started using it. The “left side lever” bugged me also. But, in practical use… neither are a hindrance.

Little hammer spring tune last night yielded:
790 with the 14.6 JSB
750 with the 16.1 JTS
725 with the 18.1 JTS

That’s about +40fps over the factory settings across the board.

Just put it all back together, and remounted the Wraith Mini for night work. Here’s the first 10 at 15 yards after the HS adjustment (18.1 JST).

Im curious if anybody has converted one to 25 cal with an fx conversion and if 800 fps or slightly more is too big of an ask. Inb4 buy a better gun, it's hard to do etc I do not care. I have a mill and a lathe, i can port it. I don't own one yet and want to know what sort of ft lbs it's capable of theoretically (other people's builds). I'm looking to build a small 25 hunter and not buy the raw if i dont have to or an expensive aea (karma sls).

I don't see a kit for it, only the 22 cal. I've made a few 25 cals using a Reximex Tormenta barrel (375 mm long). Other Turkey made barrels also work, like Kral available from Canada shooting supply. The 12 mm step needs lengthening a few mm, the transfer port can be elongated to match the Notos. I made my own pellet prove, but if you want a quick easy way to do it, find an empty 22WMR shell and cut the rim area. You can use this as a sleeve on the prove, it's just under 25 cal. I'm getting 42+ fpe with the 14.75" (375mm) barrel reg to 2200 psi.

22 wmr brass in stock 😁. A 25 notos project with a fx liner or converting my aea hpss to 25 similarly is on the menu. The frontal area and pneumatic magic of 25 has captured my attention lately. Shooting the same weight pellet my slower 25 just bricks pests better than the far higher spec 22 does for same pellet type and weight.
