Do the FX STX superior liners have a accuracy advantage over the Notos barrels? Is there an advantage of the STX liners on a stock gun? Thanks, Don
That's not always the case. LW sells barrel blanks for $50 and they shoot just about anything. Fx barrel liners are pretty much the same thing, a blank. But the process in which they make it is what makes them pricey.A notos barrel cost like $30 vs and fx barrel cost $110. Big difference so yeah you will get better accuracy from a $110 than using a cheaper $30 barrel.
If your Notos barrel doesn't like to shoot anything. Then yes, you'll have an advantage by getting an FX barrel kit, if you get a good barrel liner, you'll have to buy that separately. Or if you want to get more velocity, given that they make 500mm barrel kits.Do the FX STX superior liners have a accuracy advantage over the Notos barrels? Do you have any Notos barrels for sale? Not sure what's happening, my Notos is throwing fliers with every pellet l shoot now. It was only doing this with the 14.3 CHPs before. I have only shot it a little since it was reworked. I am going to change the o-ring in the barrel and check for clipping when l get a calm day. Don
Is there any wiggle on your scope rail? The picatinny rail that wraps the barrel and you mount the scope to. Mine had that issue when I first got the gun and it was side to side play in the rail. What seems like insignificant, tiny petty wobble can cause serious accuracy issues. I would get 6moa variations at 25y. Once I mounted direct to the dovetail all that went away.Oh man, I'd love a $30 dollar replacement notos barrel too!
I think you've said that the longer barrels require porting to work @Firewalker , is that the case with the 380 FX barrel as well?
I'm dealing with some pretty atrocious groups from my notos and am trying to pin down the problem. Right now I'm hoping it's just the aliexpress barrel orings being too soft or something cheap.
That's good to know about the 380mm FX kit! I'm not too worried about power gains (yet), the current power levels have been fine for my squirrel and quail hunting so far.Is there any wiggle on your scope rail? And no, you do not have to port with the 380mm FX kit. But, if you want appreciable power gains you do.

There's no perceptible wiggle to my scope rail, I've gone through and torqued and blue-loctited everything down.
10 or below inch pounds for the barrel set screw
15 inch pounds for each of the picatinny rail screws
15 inch pounds for the scope rings to pic rail
10 inch pounds for the scope rings.
(all values from a wheeler fat wrench and values were what I guesses on my part as to what seemed right)
I have a chronograph arriving tomorrow to hopefully help me pin down what the issues are.
I don't want to derail this post too much, so I'll go ahead and start a new one with my notos problems.
I've mostly been shooting Crosman Premiere Hollowpoints, and GTO Predator lead free pellets. CPHP for plinking and testing, GTO for hunting. What are you shooting?
Have you tinkered with the reg pressure or hammer spring at all?

Reg pressure is stock and hammer spring is 1 full turn out from max currently, though I've had it backed out as far as being flush with the receiver without much change in groups.
I started another post where I've tried to go into detail about the hole I've dug myself! "Notos Accuracy Troubleshooting"

I have never had much luck shooting gto lead free. My notos with stock barrel scatter gunned them, almost all H&Ns would have 2 distinct POIs and occasionally throw a total WTF flyer. CPHPs shoot well, but nowhere near the best in mine. The flyers arent we common we with HN or GTOs but once every mag or 2
I found. And some others have found JTS and AEA pellets to be the most pinpoint accurate ammo for the stock barrel.
The AEA 15.89 and JTS 18.1s are hole on hole accurate for many. However a bad barrel isn't out of the question. Firewalker will probably have better data as I can only speak for myself and the few I know who shoot the notos. He's had his hands on MANY.
They're definitely individuals. Man can shoot them alright, but it throws flyers with them every so often. Other wise they're good. There are seemingly never issues with the JTS and AEA with mine. I haven't touched the settings since removing the FX barrel so maybe that speaks for my issues with the stock barrel, I don't know... With the FX barrel... All shot fantastic.18.1 in JTS, JSB & AEA all do very well at distances up to 50 yards and further for some.
CPHP's do very well in the hundreds of Notos I've modded, here is a few cards from this last week.
