Umarex Notos

Got son & law x-mass gift a notes in today. Picked up Crossman Premier, hollow points and Ruger pointed pellet 17 grains. To try in it. I’m looking for a cheap ffp scope that is compact and lightweight. Any suggestions? And what off the self pellets work good? This is his first pcp so I’m setting it up for him. Mainly plinking in back yard and little squirrel hunting. Thanks for info!

CPHP's are great in the Notos!

I've never had good luck with the Ruger pellets.

CONGRATULATIONS! I have this Discovery Optics HD 2-12x24 FFP that focuses down to 5yds 165 TYD from DiscoveryOpt.us website, I think it ships from CA...

I second the Ruger pellets not being worth a darn. I don't think I've ever owned a gun that liked those.

For my Notos, I shoot Daisy Precision Max hollow points or the CPHPs shoot well too. The Daisy's are a great hunting pellet. Never passes thru anything I shoot. Just full power dumps into the target.

Why FFP scope? If you want to use at lower power the reticle gets really small, and they are usually more money. I’ve tried FFP, and for normal airgun ranges I much prefer SFP.
For pellets, I’ve had good results from several 15.9 gr. Diabolo style pellets. Good balance between velocity and energy.
I have to agree, a SFP scope would probably be better for a beginner especially on a Notos, and shooting short range. He likely won't even be able to see the crosshairs on a FFP scope when looking in a tree for a squirrel shot.

I have found a 4x32 fixed powered scope I think will work for his needs. SFP I don’t have any experience with. Thought if you zoom power in it changes poi. I want to keep it as simple as possible. I have been teaching a newbs I meet, how to hunt and shoot. I’ve noticed that my set up( RTI P3, FFP scope) they struggle with a parallax, and trying to zoom in. To much time messing with scope. When hunting lowers there success rate. hurting their confidence. I’ve noticed, the one who have success early on stuck with it more often. I will look more into SPF. I don’t mind learning myself. Can’t wait to get it set up and shot it. So light and simple.I’m thinking of getting 2 more Notes. One for my other son and daughter. My daughter seen it yesterday and loved the size and weight. She shoots with us often. But struggles with the weight of my rifles. So think it will be good fit.

Doesn’t change poi by zooming in and out. Center reticle always stays the same. BDC markers on the reticle have different values as you change from the power you zeroed at, but they always stay the same size so you can see them at low power.

And that's why they are so valuable for changing from close to far, no holdover.
