Nova Freedom 22. first tree rat eliminated.

no photos because it was absolutely covered in mites, ticks, and other Nasties ick. I was considering a braise, but now I'm not so sure... He went into the freezer and I'll decide later once I've eliminated any disease vectors and can properly dress.

back to the important part..

So, I've been playing hide and seek for the past couple of days with one tree rat in particular, I named him "Nastyback". The guy was a total "Dick" in the rodent world. dominant, a pig, buggy, nasty, mean. My dog is/was scared of this guy.

Last year he had I think three or four bot fly type things growing out of his back and looked on deaths door last summer (Hence the name). He made it this winter by basically raiding my bird feeders, real messy about it too. All are so called rodent proof. This guy would just shake it violently knocking seeds out, or sometimes just trying to take off with the entire feeder. I also spike my bird seed and suet with ground cayenne pepper. This stuff is seriously hot and keeps most of the tree rats away. No, not Nastyback. I think he actually likes the hot stuff more than the regular flavor. Maybe an acquired taste.

The hunt is also complicated by my normally quiet and serene hunting ground is disturbed by both of my usually vacant vacation home properties being occupied by children and soccer moms for spring break. Donnyfl Sumo really helps here btw..

I had him in my sights three times today while he raided my bird feeders greedily eating hot pepper seed until his intestines were probably melting.

Every time, ended up holding off due to too much traffic around that might see.But on trip number four to this mexican squirrel buffet the stars aligned and a cheapo 14.3 grain crosman hp quietly chirped and did a clean pass through heart lung shot at an easy gimmie shot of 22yd while hidden in my master bedroom with the screen door open. Nobody heard boo. I was actually surprised when the tree rat went down DRT as the report was so quiet. The Nova Freedom is accurate and with the Sumo extremely quiet. I have two more than need to be eliminated. Earless, and Weasel. Their stories will follow (hopefully)

So, if you are having a glass of something cold and frosty this evening, give a toast to Nastyback. Today was a big day for him.

I need to invest in an x sight 4k pro so I can record this stuff.

Update...

Pour a sip for Earless. Today was a big day for her. Earless was also nasty and diseased. She was probably a sweet innocent tree rat in the past but she had obviously got mixed up with white trash tree rats as a pup and was now Nastyback's main squeeze. How low do you have to go to shack up with someone with mites and bot fly maggots in their back? Seriously girl! Folks are probably guessing what happened to her ear? I don't know for sure, but my theory involves domestic violence with her and her deceased boyfriend Nastyback over some nuts or something...

It didn't take her long to start feeding her face at the mexican squirrel hot cayenne buffet as if nothing happened. mistake

Well, She took it like a champ right where her left ear should have been @ about 12yds. lights out to to two thirds of the trailer trash tree rat family. in my freezer for a proper table fare evaluation after all the mites, fleas, ticks, and what not are all dead.

Now I'm on the lookout for Nastyback's other hoe- Weasel. she's like a skinny meth head squirrel. I'll keep you posted.

My only issue was that I got Earless' brains all over one of my feeders, and there is a crimson tinge to the snow in places. I need it to rain to wash the evidence away before my wife sees it.

*Tips my Colt 45 Malt Liquor and drips a bit onto the ground for Nastyback and for Earless*

Weasel needs to wise up and watch her back if she plans on sticking around your hood.. Either that, or, *Splat*
She's going to end up on ice or in a shallow grave like her fomies.. [furry-homies] 🤣

Nice shooting Tex! It's great to hear that you're taking out the trash with your Freedom too! Right on man!
Great stories, and Hopefully there will be many more in the future! Thanks for the share!

🙂👍

Pour a sip out for Weasel. Her big day was today.

She's been scarce as of late... hmm. wonder why?

Honestly it wasn't a great first shot. I hit a bit further back than I wanted. Luckily she wasn't going anywhere. a follow up made quick work.

Let's talk tree rats for a second.. furry, fluffy, pretty, mine are not those things.... gack... Weasel had a big sore with I'm pretty sure was moss growing on it.

Now that the problem tree rats are eliminated. I can go back to watching the birds eat in peace.

I'm sure it will take a month before a new crew moves in.

*Pours out what was left of the backwash from my 40 oz'er* 🤣

Ah that's great man! Glad to hear that you finally got rid of the last of the gang..

I'm glad I wasn't eating / drinking when I read any of this, because I seriously got a few great laughs!
My screen and keyboard are thankful also..

Hopefully you'll have some nice time out there now before the next batch inevitably invade the place too.

Maybe skewer the 3 skulls up like the worrier tribes used to do to keep unwanted visitors away?!

It couldn't hurt.. haha

😃👍
