Nova Liberty Bolt Probe O-Ring Rupture

Antoni= Check your box that the rifle came in. I have 4 liberty's & they all came with spare probe o-rings. There in a small cellophane packet so it's easy to overlook them. Also one of rifles had the o-rings under the Styrofoam ?

Thing is, I don’t know how to replace these O-Rings, and if it requires disassembles I won’t do it because I don’t want to risk anything before my 1 year warranty ends.

Is this your first PCP air rifle? If so, please be aware that replacing an O-ring is a necessary part of ownership. That is, unless you are content with shipping it out on a regular basis, or lucky enough to know someone local who will do it for you. Bolt O-rings in particular are wear items so will be the shortest-lived O-ring in most rifles.

Antoni, good morning

If you were to call ATI you might get lucky and find some O rings.

Generally they do not stock spare parts

They also do not perform repairs.

You would need to return the gun as defective for them to replace

IMO not worth the trouble as there is no telling what issues the replacement rifle may have;

and the turnaround will take some time as well

Below is a link to a great video showing how to work on a Liberty

Hope this helps; & encourages you to get fully immersed in air gun activity

Hi Antoni, the video above that silentsquirrel posted is my video. I'm not an expert just a curious fellow. Do not be afraid to just go at it. The worst that can happen is you have to send it back in away and the best is that you gain confidence and experience which lasts a life time.

Changing the probe orings is very easy. Use a semi sharp pick which you can get online for a few dollars or harbor freight. I big deal if you restore the rings coming off as they are shot anyway. then just lube the orings with some silicone grease and push them on with your fingers.

I know you can do it.

Antoni , I watched the banker4 vid and using what I learned I've taken my Liberty apart many many times with no problems. I took it apart not because it failed but because I'm a madd modder and can't leave anything stock! lol Now I wish The Banker4 would do a vid on how to work on the Sumatra 2500.

Antoni

Just following up on the probe o rings

I looked at my Liberty and in my (inexperienced) opinion it looks possible to change the pellet probe o rings without taking the gun apart

If I were to try this it would mean

- degassing the gun

Using the side lever

- working the probe into a position to loosen the o rings from their groove

-the moving the probe backward to slide the o rings off over the end

Reverse the procedure (with silicone grease for lubrication) for installing the o rings

If anyone with more knowledge that I is following, please comment on this method.

And

BTW

With advice from Steve (The Banker) you cannot go wrong

PS

DesertSilver

Boy am I looking forward to the Sumatra video

I agree with others, that this is normal PCP maintance and should not return this for warrantee.

I have replaced some of the O-rings on the Liberty probes, with the spares that came with the gun.

No need to degas the gun.

Remove pin for hammer spring guide and remove, taking all tension away from cocking..

Cock it.

Cut old o-rings off and remove.

Slide on the new O-rings, one at a time. It will take a few trys to get the O-ring over the taper part of the probe. The o-rings are small and do not streach much.

Grease circuferance of O-ring and ID of lead, with silicone grease.

Re-assemble.

Now, if you haven't shot this gun allot, I'd check your mags and leade for burrs/sharp edges that may be damaging the O-rings.

Also, if you don't have the spares, let me know and will look up and post the size. They are metric, so will need to order, as it would be unlikely to be found at any local H/W store.

Quick question: I

I don’t understand because in the manual it states “Disassembling voids warranty” or something like that, so am I safe? If I am, are the o rings it came with for that?
