What a fine time was our November TEXtreme field target weekend! Probably helped that the half-dozen pistoleros and dozen riflemen enjoyed shirtsleeve weather devoid of precipitation in Fridays pistol and Saturdays rifle extreme FT matches. Furthermore, the pistolmen had a bit less wind conditions than we usually contend with. Not so, the rifle marksmen. Nevertheless, scores were as high as our spirits.
His annoying habit growing ever more-so with each (successive) TEXtreme victory, Derrick Wall proved utterly unrepentant by adding to his collection of headgear jewelry (aka- Match winner hat-pins). Derrick posted a fine 58/60 score with his .20 caliber Brocock Commander pistol topped with an Athlon Talos rifle scope, and shooting 13.73 grain JSBs 803 FPS. Great shooting, DW!
Paul ‘Pablo’ Bracaglia came second in the pistol match with an excellent 55/60 score. Pablo’s Marauder rifle to pistol conversion is topped with a new scope, since he only recently discovered our EFT pistol magnification limit was raised from 12X to 16X after the 2023 season. Unfortunately we have no additional information about his scope or ammo brand(s), model(s), and other particulars like pellet weight and velocity. Regardless, excellent shooting, PB.
You get one guess who won the rifle match.
Good guess!
But this time, despite more challenging wind conditions, Derrick came within a single point of cleaning the sixty-shot course with his trusty .30 caliber Kalibrgun Cricket 2 Tac rifle to capture the Rifle Match Winner hat-pin. Topped with an Athlon Cronus scope, that Tac-driver zings 56 grain Zan pellets 890 FPS. Fantastic shooting, Derrick! By the way, you’re gonna need a bigger hat.
Correction- another bigger hat.
Both posting 55/60 scores, the tie for second place braggin’ rights was decided by Jim Clarke’s 5/6 on the standing lane bettering Pablo’s 4/6. Jim shot his Hawke Optics equipped .25 Daystate Red Wolf, and 34 grain JSBs. Pablo used a ‘Crizket’ something-or-other, presumably shooting some kind of pellets, at some (unknown) velocity. Good shooting, Men.
Honorable mention to Keith Surber, who, along with his dad Greg, shot their first TEXtreme field target match. I think it was also Keith’s first airgun match of any kind, and he shot a borrowed rifle (from dad), for the first time, from the stool and bipod FT position, also for the first time! Considering all that new and strange, Keith’s 53/60 score is nothing less than remarkable. Considering he might contest our 2024 TEXtreme Field Target State Championships next month, we should be afraid. VERY AFRAID! Utterly fantastic shooting, Keith!
Although I’m hoarding Airguns Of Arizona gift certificates for the upcoming 2024 TEXtreme State Championships prizes in December, I can’t thank AoA enough for all their sponsorship support from the beginning of TEXtreme Airgun Sports. THANK YOU!!! Friends, please support our generous sponsor.
I’ll try to get a match announcement out this week detailing the upcoming State Championships happening Friday through Sunday, December 6-8 (weather permitting). Meanwhile, a little teaser.
Word on the streets… correction- word on the shooting lanes is, fresh off successfully defending his 2023 Extreme Field Target National Champion title at 2024 EBR, the (also) reigning 2023 TEXtreme Field Target State Champion intends to (also) defend that title at our 2024 TEXtreme State Championships. Knowing the champ, I suspect Caleb is well motivated.
Happy Shooting All,
Ron & Maggyy
Yes, we're still recovering.
