A legal definition is a statist construct. It is not a fact nor a truth. So drumie was correct, an airgun ISN’T a firearm.

But we live in a statist paradigm and the state has the monopoly on violence. For better or worse, retailers and manufactures (and consumers) will abide by their edicts about what is and isn't a firearm.

An AR lower receiver isn't a firearm either, but everyone treats it as one, therefore, in some sense it is a firearm.

Just trying to answer the OPs question. I don't agree with the law, the regulatory definition or anything else that comes with that.
