Air Venturi O ring size - Avenger AE Swede Plug O ring for Bottle Adapter Kit

Hey guys,

Had the AE Swede Avenger .22 bottle conversion for couple years and the original o ring that sits under the plug that plugs off the upper air tube hole (so bottle goes in bottom) has "squished out" the side out from under the plug. It leaked out all my air. I had replaced with another one that I had in 70 durometer but wasn't exact size but close. Maybe a month ago.

Well it just squished out again! So, need 90 duro but I need to know what size this o ring is.

Thank you!

I don't have that rifle and, without a picture, I'm just guessing. It kind of sounds like what is needed is a Dowdy washer rather than an o-ring. I'm just trying to picture in my head what a squished out o-ring looks like.

It came with an o ring originally so that's what I have to put back in it.

That is an excellent photo of a squished out o-ring! And it's pretty much what I pictured in my head. Is it a flat screw head tightening down onto a flat surface? If that's the case, then that is exactly what dowdy washers are for to hold air in those situations. They are sometimes called bonded washers. A google search for dowdy washer will provide size charts for both metric and non-metric sizes.

I got a variety size box of the dowty bonded washer o ring combo things so I guess I'll try that, thanks for the suggestion. But I remembered I got the Captain O Ring avenger o ring kit and am gonna see if the original size o ring they say is for the stock air tubes would work first.

The screw is flat underneath yeah but it has a recess for the o ring to sit under that and the screw plug is supposed to hold it in there. I fill to 4k psi and the o ring I used was 70 duro which work for a bit but it leaked out when I set the Avenger down outside in 80 degree and had a shooting session with a different gun for hours. It's not as loud as if a burst disk went but I definitely knew something was wrong lol

OK. I didn't know there was an actual place under the screw head specifically for an o-ring. In that case, the dowdy washer idea is not good -- my bad -- sorry. The dowdy washer needs to have the bonded (rubbery stuff) part pressed on both sides by flat surfaces, otherwise it won't work.

Yikes -- I don't know what to do at this point. If you measure the outside diameter of the recessed o-ring space and have a good guess as to how "thick" the o-ring should be (outside diameter minus inside diameter) and go to the "O-rings and More" web site, you can order several packs of o-rings that all have the same outside diameter or slightly smaller(?), but different inside diameters. Try placing each one in the recessed place to see which one looks like it'll work. It's a good web site. It's easy to find very specific sizes and hardness. I know this isn't much help saying to do it by trial and error.

Update: the Captain O Ring kit has one that fits. Held 4k psi for 24 hrs (longer test would be better but it didn't leak right away which is a start compared to others)

It is "L" on their list and I emailed them to get the actual size.

Only thing is it is 70 not 90 duro so will have to see how long it lasts at 4k psi.

Thanks for the help, all!
Glad you found it! I wouldn't worry about it being 70 rather than 90. 90's are more abrasion-resistant and heat-resistant (I think), but in many cases they are not flexible enough to squish into the corner of the groove they need to seal and they leak.
