Observations using the Primary Arms SLX 3X MicroPrism with the ACSS Raptor/Griffin X MIL christmas tree reticle...

Here's another experiment in optics for airgun's and observations...

The optic is a super small micro prism scope, the Primary Arms SLX 3X MicroPrism with an illuminated ACSS Raptor/Griffin X MIL reticle, mounted on my American Air Arms Evol for testing.

● With 3X magnification there's a nice field of view up close and especially so at longer ranges. Specs call out a generous 38' at 100 yards.

● The easily seeable Griffin X MIL reticle is a chevron-topped christmas tree reticle, extending down and across 10 Mils. This makes it usable to a rough max distance between 120 and 160 yards, depending on airgun projectile speed and bc of course. It isn't cluttered looking with the smallish dots, and a wind hold would be usable to about an 8 mph crosswind at the longest range dots.

● Illumination only exists on the horseshoe and chevron.

● There is no side focus for parallax like the Element-Immersive line of prismatic scopes have.

● Parallax free sort of "appears" around 10 yards, without an exaggerated head bob or being off-center and is all but gone at 30 yards and beyond. And, at the 10 yards range not being directly behind the eyebox had negligible error (half a pellet width or so). A consistent cheek weld and eye placement is mandatory for close-up precision shots.

● Focus is clear at 10 yards, fuzzier as you get into closer ranges. That may be better with younger eyes...

● One thing of note is mounting to get the required eye relief and comfortable head placement. Just as with any prismatic scope and how some guns are designed, there may be issue with the picatinny rail length going backward. With the Primary Arms supplied mounting parts, the furthest back the scope would mount required 8 1/2" of space between the eye piece and the butt pad to get proper eye relief. Some rifles would need an extended picatinny rail mounted for an easy work-around. I shortened up my Magpul stock and length of pull to make eye placement perfect with the furthest extended mount.

● For reference, the Chairgun App screenshot of the reticle holdover's is for JSB 50.15 grain pellets at 819 fps and .035 GA BC
