Odds and Ends Ammo

I am curious if anyone else has a bunch of opened tins and boxes of pellets and slugs that didn’t work out for you.
I was stunned when I went through my cabinet how many rejected projectiles I have. They are mostly slugs left over from the search for “the“ slug that my particular gun or barrel likes.
Found a Partial tin of H&N 21 gr, partial box of Zan 23 gr 218’s, some NSA 23 gr 218’s, NSA 24.8 gr, 217, NSA 27.5 217’s and some ziplock bags of a local producer’s 22-30 gr 217’s.
whatcha got in your pile?

No slugs (yet) and I probably have much less of an eclectic collection of pellets since the first PCP airguns I bought all seemed to like CPUM 10.5 pellets. MOA or less out to 50 yards.

Only recently have I had to invest in other brands and weights, so... eventually, I will have a menagerie like some of you already do have.

If I had plenty of the green stuff, I would already have a much larger collection, but as I stated above, only the most recent (DAR Gen2 .177) airgun I purchased (about a year ago) did not like the CPUM pellets, so for the first time I had to start collecting pellets that may or may not work. $$$ (silly grin)

Although I hate to spend money unnecessarily, I also know that eventually many, if not most of the pellets I purchase will eventually be useful...

That is, if I live long enough and have enough money... (chuckle/heavy sigh)

With the current regime in DC, I don't know if I will live long enough and I know I will not have enough money.

I think that all of us that own a few air guns and are addicted to shooting them have a great many unused pellets collecting dust in the garage or stored in a drawer someplace. It is the nature of the game, as each air gun likes a specific pellet over the others.
The quest for the most accurate air gun causes us to experiment with a great many brands, weights and recently some of the No Lead ones are doing quite well.
So yep many of us have pellets we will most likely never use, however they will all be tried with the next new air rifle purchase.

As for slugs, Nope, not me. I have not fallen victim to the Grand Marketing Scheme that promotes them as of yet. I saw that coming as a marketing tool, long ago. Enough marketing and interest and then they slowly raise the price of pellets also. It is a devious marketing campaign. A money maker for those who produce them.

I am a fisherman also, I love to cast small spinners for bluegill and bass. However if you listen to the new and better marketing available each year with the selection of new lures, intended to catch the fisherman and not the fish, that new twin blade rainbow trout pattern is much better, You can have one for only $22. 99 plus tax. Chuckle!!

Cheers

I don't have nay pellets that aren't accurate in at least one AG. if I want to try a new pellet, I usually buy one tin to test. If it isn't accurate in any of my AG's, I'll check with one of my friend to see if they want it. If they do, sometimes we'll trade. Sometimes they'll take me out for a hamburger. If not, no big deal. My friends and I help each other enough that I'm not worried about the price of a tin of pellets. In fact, I probably owe them more than they owe me.

I think this is called an evolution.
When we started with a new gun or new barrel at least, we ask for advise from "experts" and unfortunately you find yourself flooded with a variety of ideas.
Then we buy to try THAT brand and model projectile, and I believe most of us realize sooner or later that is just not working the best to our liking.
And at this moment starts to escalate the impulsive shopping spree. Some people stop at the money limit and some just keep running.
This last weeks I was just cleaning my drawers from slugs/pellets that I don't like - shooting/plinking tins and tins away like a drunken isis.
I still have some ten unopened tins of MRD's, spent several tins desperately trying to make love between my barrels ... hopeless.
